Did you get off the island yet?

Yes, I'm off the island! Thanks for giving us that glimpse of the mountain island chain, by the way.

By 1 AD, I've used five of my six settlers, I've met four of the AI, and I've completed the Great Lighthouse. Little else to report, at this point.

At 1AD I have got - you'd never guess ;-) - 6 cities. 32 POP.

Settled in place. Got straight to sailing and then off the island as fast as possible. If I remember right, I built 3 ships (including two working boats) before the first worker. Then moved the capital into the great flood plains (neighbouring the clams and two plains-hills). Built Great Lighthouse at home island and GLib at capital, a Great Merchant is on the way to Rome (not yet very far). Also met 4 other civs so far.

SIP, Moved to the mainland and founded a 2 clam and 6 fp city and built the Palace there. Also built the GLH and sent the First GP to build a academy in the new capital. 2 of the cities were none coastal but can be production monsters. All others are coastal.

Made the mistake of not figuring out that the galley can indeed find other AI until they found me. I am missing 2 AI as of 0AD.

3rd city claimed rice, cow and elephants; settled on plains elephant (Production), 4th claimed gems, rice and cows but chose not to claim the fish(science) and 5th claimed cow, 2 fp's and several hills (production).

As for AI's, they are going to leave us alone since they can not get along with each other and that is fine with me. I have turned down all demands so far so war is going to be the name of the game for me.

Oh, neilmeister, thank you for the friendly AI in the game......actually these bunch is easier to manage but you also gave us Mr. Isolationist and he is the right AI to go after since he is going to be backwards. Hint, hint, new players.

Going for a cultural victory. Planned to found all six cities as soon as possible without killing my economy. Settled on the Marble and built WB (for clams), another WB to scout, followed by Warrior, WB, Galley, Galley. With no Barbarians to worry about, I dropped off two Settlers to walk around and look for good land. Met Toku in 2120BC (useless) and Caesar plus Montezuma in 1500BC, did not meet H.C. and Catherine until almost the end of the BC years. Great Lighthouse completed in 1280BC, missed Oracle at 900BC (had not researched the techs yet) and Pyramids (fail gold was very useful), got Parthenon and Colossus. Bulbed Metal Casting at 825BC with a GM.

Settled all cities on the main island, along the coast for Great Lighthouse bonus:
2560BC on plains hill with 7FP and two clam.
2160BC to the west by Cows, FP, and several hills for building Pyramids etc.
1760BC by two Gems, Rice and Iron.
825BC: last two cities (these were delayed to wait for economy to catch up), one by quadruple Ivory and Fish and one by Cows and Rice which will be able to secure the Stone with later border pops.

Before settling the last two I walked around the northern island and considered it, but I was able to get Wine from Caesar and decided the Stone (many turns from now) was more important. Moving onto the AI islands seemed risky as I could not see much good open land and there were no defenders on the Galley. Toku has settled one crappy city on my island.

The biggest challenges seem to be health and getting religions - all but Islam have been founded elsewhere but only one spread to me so far. Great Artist bombs will need to do some heavy lifting here.
