I am running Civ 3 on a 933MHz iBook G4 (256MB RAM), w/ OS X 10.3.9.

I recently downloaded and installed the v1.29 update patch (which was downloaded from AlanH's link), and also installd the GotM all-in-one installer for Mac (also from AlanH).

I've got everything to install, it seems, but none of the new civilizations work properly. Here's the problem that arises...

After I open the program and load the Scenario "gotm_mod_1.1", I choose a civilization, click to proceed, and the game will load up and send me to the map screen...there is the usual text box telling me what technologies I have and what not, but no map appears...when I click to get past the text box the game crashes. If I simply wait and don't click, the map doesn't show and it will eventually crash.
About one third of the time the mod works-- for a little while... I am able to choose a civilization and play a few turns, but after those few turns the game suddenly crashes...

I've been reading as many things from these forums as I could find on this problem, but I can't seem to find anything of use...
Could someone help me???? THANK YOU!

Are you crossing mods: the GOTM and the GOTM mod by Bluebox? Bluebox's mod requires a certain set of resource files (2), where the GOTM mod requires two different resource files. Check out the readme for the correct ones.

Really Really Sorry for the awful terrible necropost here, but I'm having the same problem. What 2 files does bluebox's mod need? I only found one. And I quote the instructions:

"1. The Luxury Icons of the standard and mediterranean ressources in the Luxury Box of the City Screen are shown correctly. This includes Wool and Cotton, too. There is still a minor bug when you use these luxury icons in recent (and probably: coming) official GotMs as released by the GotM staff due to a divergent implementation of the Ivory ressource. The 'real' Ivory will show up as two elephants instead of one while silks and gems are swapped around. This, however, is not the case in the GotM Mod and in regular epic games.

Backup the file 'luxuryicons_small.pcx' in the 'Art\City Screen' folder of your CivIII directory, e.g. by renaming it to 'luxuryicons_small-org.pcx'. Then copy the appropriate file of the Modpak to that location.

2. Improvement Icons of the added PTW equivalents and Wonders of the Internet, the Ports of Entry, Civil Defense, and the Stock Exchange are shown in the City Screen. You can see Icons of these buildings on the production button and in the improvements box (when their production is finished).

Backup your files 'buildings-large.pcx' and 'buildings-small.pcx' in the 'Art\City Screen' folder of your CivIII directory, e.g. by renaming it to 'buildings-large-org.pcx' and 'buildings-small-org.pcx'. Then copy the appropriate files of the Modpak to that location.

3. Mood and era indicators are added to the Arabs images in the Diplomacy Screen. The Arabs' Diplomacy representation was missing the A, M, I and +/- indicators for era and mood. These are added, now.

Copy this file to the 'advisors' folder of your CivIII directory. You can easily overwrite the old file. If you want to backup: the file is called 'arabs_all.pcx'."

I was only able to find the first file in the city view folder in the supplied resources storage file, the others were nonapparent. All the other files that were to be replaced belonged to one or another of the GOTM games. There was no folder called "modpack".

What 2 files are necessary to play the Bluebox mod, where can I find them, and where can I find the other two missing files, as stated above.

Again, really truly sorry for the necropost, and my apologies for any botherment I've caused you.

I assume you have run the GOTM Mod installer, and now want to play BlueBox's gotm_mod_1.1.bic scenario?

If so, most of the work has already been done for you by the installer. However, the installer was created primarily to support GOTM competition games, and so, in order to use it for BlueBox's scenarrio you need to make two small changes:

1. There are two resources files that you *must* swap to avoid crashes:

Civilization III/Art/resources.pcx and Civilization III/Art/resources_shadows.pcx.

Move or rename the ones that are installed in the Civilization III/Art/ folder and replace them with the two files of the same names that are installed in Civilization III/Art/resources storage/gotm21 w smilies and blips/.

2. There is one file that you "can" swap, but leaving it unchanged will do no harm:

Civilization III/Art/City Screen/luxuryicons_small.pcx

Move or rename the file installed in the Civilization III/Art/City Screen/ folder and replace it with the one installed in the Civilization III/Art/resources storage/bluebox city screen/ folder.

That's all there is to it.
