GOTM 24:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=40552

This month’s GOTM is a combination of ideas.

First, you start in Fundamentalism. You are not allowed to change governments at all during the course of the game.

Second, the AI players start at either Monarchy or Communism. They are allowed to change governments during the course of the game.

Third, no huts.

You are Tokugawa of the Japanese and start the game with Bronze Working and two settlers.

Deity level, Normal Size map, Restarts are off, Barbs are set to Restless Tribes.

You have inherited the throne from your neighbor’s sister’s nephew, twice removed from her father’s side.

It is now 1950 BC. That's right, an accelerated start-up.
Emperor Level with Raging Hordes.

You now command two great cities, Athens and Sparta.

Have a wealth of items at your disposal, and Knowledge, and Improvements.

You’re playing on a Normal sized map, with a couple other Civs, no restarts.

GOTM 30:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=57438

For our milestone GOTM 30, I took the ideas that gave the most positive feedback and combined them.

In this game, we have an accelerated start-up. But, it’s not a computer made one. It is a man made one. Several turns are skipped to start with, and then the playing starts. A nearby hut provides a horseman who goes exploring North. The settler also explores South. A hut gives 50 gold. Another gives a Archer. Washington is founded. Another hut gives 50 gold.

Washington IPRB a settler over a few turns. New York is founded in a spot that will have 4 specials (2 are hidden) and a couple rivers. Hanging Gardens is started. Barbarians land NE of New York. Our Archer and Horseman go out to meet them. Our Horseman kills one of the Barbarians, while our Archer fortifies on a forest square. The Barbarians attack and lose; our horseman chances down the Barbarian leader and ransoms him off. Both of our units were made Veterans in the process.

In the man time, Boston is founded near Washington. More Settlers are built and roads are made to connect our cities. A Settler begins to mine a grassland to undercover a hidden special.

That’s where you take over; 1000 BC.

The game settings:

Large Map
Normal Land Mass
Varied Land Form
Wet Climate
Cool Temperature
5 billion Age
Emperor Level
7 Civs
Raging Hordes
No Restarts

Americans - Abe Lincoln

Started with Pottery.

Some notes: You are well into having a Wonder built, almost discovered Monarchy, and have 230 gold. No other civs have started any wonders and, at the current rate, you should be able to switch to Monarchy the turn after it is discovered. It is also worth pointing out that our nice little island crosses the median line.

Games will be due on August 9th.

Be sure to send in the required saves {One from AD 1, AD 1000, and a save just before you would finish the game} to DoM@Civfanatics.net.

GOTM 31
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60400

On this odd sized flat map you start as Xerxes, leader of the Persians.

Two Settlers await your command with two huts in view. A special note, if you build your city near the huts and put a worker on either of the huts, the hut will disappear (without getting anything from them), so beware!

If you thought the game was that basic, think again. After a quick peek at the map I gave every nation the Navigation tech (hint, hint). Not wanting to end there I gave all of the other civilizations a government technology and also started them in that government. You however, start in Anarchy. In doing all this, it also makes it where you will have a direct choice in Technologies.

The game settings:

Custom Size Flat Map
Small Land Mass
Archipelago Land Form
Random Climate
Random Temperature
Random Age
King Level
7 Civs

Restarts on

This GOTM is based on a suggestion from one of our regular players.

Civilization Diaspora

Early in human history groups traveled to the far corners of the European, African, and Asian continents seeking a quiet place to develop. You are the 'odd ball out'. the English, stuck with a small island of limited potential. On the other hand, you are a sea-faring people, having already crossed the Channel to this island; are there other lands to explore and settle?

Game Settings:
Large Modified Earth Map
Seven Selected Civs
Emperor Level
Restless Tribes
Restarts are On

Starting Techs:
Bronze Working
Ceremonial Burial
Horseback Riding

I have tweaked the map, so be aware that some of the 'usual' tricks usually associated with the Earth Map may not work. Consider yourself warned. :D

GOTM 37

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=77467

As a lowly sheepherder named Genghis you always aspired to get more out of life. During your teen years you moved from land to land with your family trying to find a place that you could settle, a place that would allow your family to grow and prosper.

The recent passing of your father has left that responsibility to you. Just before he passed, he had saved enough money for your family to take a voyage to a land he heard was full of lush grasslands. Honoring your father, you decide to travel to his 'dream land', lay him to rest and start a better life for your family, the Khan family.

Upon arrival to the 'dream land', you see nothing for miles except flowing valleys of grasslands. Your skills as a sheepherder may help in finding the special terrains that are sometimes found in grasslands.

And this is where the adventure begins.
