Hello Everyone

I love playing GOTM s, but with the 1.61 patch game came the introduction of game assets locked. This really has annoyed me since i cant seem to use any of my game enhancement mods ( !they are not game play altering mods! ).

I am not a serious GOTM member and never sumbit, i just like to see where i am at compared to the majority of the players.

Does anyone else wish to see a GOTM for NON submiters to play without locked game assets ( so they can use their own or other peoples mods ) . I point out its for NON submitors, because of all the people who might be tempted to cheat.

GOTM s are fun, and i enjoy playing them every month! And will continue to do so, just please let me use my mods as i only play for fun! not competition!

My 2¢:

I don't think this would be practical during the live game, for fairly obvious reasons. We primarily run the GOTMs as a competition for people to enter, and having a "cheatable" version of the game available would be one more temptation for those who unaccountably wish to get around the rules.

I guess we could release an unlocked version of the start file after the game has closed, but I doubt if that would do what you want. I would prefer that we cater for the needs of players who want to use the mods by supporting an approved mod like the HOF set. That would increase the opportunity for more players to enter the competition, and so that is our objective.

BTW, I don't see any conflict between playing for fun and playing for competition, as long as you can enjoy all your favorite toys :)

Moderator Action: Move to here

At Denniz' suggestion, I moved the post that was here, plus the related discussion posts over to the HOF Mod Discussion thread. The posts concerned whether the HOF mod provides spoiler information. It is more appropriate to have such discussions in the other place.

seens original poster complain that he can not use his game enchansing (spoilers) mods, I fail to see why this discussion is not belong here.

This discussion is about whether GOTM saves should be made available without locked assets so that non-competing players can enjoy them unrestricted. It is not about which mods are spoilers.

The best place to discuss whether HOF Mod is a spoiler is in the HOF Mod discussion forum.

Sorry, but the moment you suggested permitting HOF mod in competition it become disscussion about what mod is spoiler.

Only for you, as you clearly feel very strongly about it. But the place to resolve that issue is in the HOF Mod forum, where all the right people are available to discuss it. Why do you object to dealing with it there?

You are asking me to convince people who spend a lot of time into creating mod to trow out there work because it is spoiler?
It is spoiler, but to convince people to trow away there baby is imposible.

WE here have a clean state at the moment, with out history of using the spoiler mod. So, proper discussion is here, not in HOF forum.

I have tried to tell you politely that this is not the correct place to debate it, and now you respond by insulting the staff members involved!

The development team for the HOF mod are running a competion just like we do here in GOTM land. They have no incentive to create a spoiler system, as that would create an dangerous precedent. They are as concerned as we are to ensure that it doesn't create spoiler data, and we are working with them to try to make it usable in both areas of competition. Your accusation that they would sustain a flawed system for reasons of personal pride is an insult to people who do a great deal of work in support of both the HOF and GOTM communities here, and for whom I have a great deal of respect. I strongly recommend that you withdraw it.

The HOF mod is not immutable. If it has a problem then it will be fixed, not discarded wholesale. All inputs are very welcome to help them to ensure that the mod is safe, but they need to be discussed where the experts are, and where it is under evauation. If your concerns are justified then they will be listened to and acted upon to fix the mod.

You ask the question and you resieved a honest answer.
There no offence in that answer. It is simple truth that people tend to protect there own creation and that it is much easier to establish correct pricindent then change a long established one.

If you do not want to hear an answer, do not ask the question.
You handle this topic extrimelly havilly handently. The moment I mention fault with Hof mod posts were shifted in a middle of an obscure thread that no one read exept HOF stuff.

There have been four public versions of the mod released and at least ten private revisions. We're pretty comfortable there's no spoiler information in it.:)
