Hi everybody,

I have civ3 with patch 1.29f.
I've ran the GOTMfullInstaller.

GOTM 37 to 31 seems to work fine but
I've tryed to play GOTM 30 to 26 and the game crashed
when I load the start file .SAV .

(Civ III.exe has encounter errors .... would you like to submit report)
something like that...

Need I to change the pediaIcon.txt for each game ?
Did I miss something ?

Is anybody can send me the start file of the GOTM 9, 10, 17 to 25?
Thanks

(sorry for my broken english)

Hi, welcome to GOTM and CivFanatics :wavey:

The Installer Readme is displayed during installation and copied to the Readmes folder. It's worth spending a moment to check out and should make this clear. To run the GOTM 20 to 31 start files you have to swap resource graphics files.

Start files for the early games are in the archives, linked from the Reference Thread, which is a goldmine of useful links to all gotm-related information.

I've read the archives, but the links for downloading the gotm 6, 9 and 10 are broken links.

Concerning the gotm 17,18, it is written in the readme file that I have to
download the game in : http://gotm.civfanatics.net/games/gotm17_start_v1_29.sav
But I've an 404 error....

OK, I've done that, and now, I can play, Thank you.

Just happened to have them on my work machine, enjoy.

Well done, Denyd.

Sorry, these games were before my time. I have no access to that archive download site, so I can't investigate the problem. My guess is that the files are missing in action. I'll put Denyd's copies up on the current server and provide links in the Reference Thread.

The gotm 17 link should be http://gotm.civfanatics.net/games/saves/gotm17_start_v1_29.sav

I case anyone else might want one of those earlier games, here are games 1-17 in a zipped file. Each GOTM has it's own directory. Some of them are zipped and some are SAV files.

Link to zipped set of GOTM 1 through 17

Wow, I can't believe you have kept them for that long. I don't even have the last GOTM I played on my comp anymore.

Hi thank you very much !!
I gonna spend nice christmas holidays !!

I'm sorry that the answer of me first question was in the readme file.
I'll write 100 time : "Read the readme file before asking any questions"

Help!!

I am new to the game of the month thing, and in fact hadn't played CIV3 in about a year. I had to install the game on my new computer, I downloaded all the latest patches and got the GOTM save file running fine.

But now it is much later in the game and I am building these small wonders called "Port Entry 1..2..3..4" and when I go to the Civilopedia it just gives me the entry to the Offshore Platorm. I just noticed this.

Anyway, on the turn where it is supposed to be built, I get an error saying there is a missing entry in the Civilopedia text file and my game shuts down. I notice that this small wonder is only in the GOTM so thats why I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on the problem! Thanks.

Hi - welcome to CFC & the GOTM. :)

These buildings are designed to replace the PTW Commercial Dock.

Are you sure its a missing entry in Civilopedia.txt? Confirm the error message, and I'll try to help you out. Not 100% sure what this could be due to (yet). Did you install all the GOTM scenario files? And are you playing this in Civ3, or did you load the save in PTW?

Isn't the PTW commercial dock supposed to act like a marketplace in that it gives more commerce? Because it definitiely hasn't done that in any of the last 3 games I've played.

Maybe it has something to do with the image files for the Port of Entry because right now in the city construction window, where it should have a picture of the PofE it is just blank.

I'm playing this in Civ3 version 1.29, not PTW because I don't own PTW.

I think I downloaded everything I was supposed to. I downloaded the "all-in-one installer" for Civ3 for Windows.

The error message says
"Missing Entry in 'text/PediaIcons.txt': WON_SPLASH_79"

Sorry I said Civilopedia text file but this is what i meant.

Hi

Check your pediaIcons.txt file in notepad (it's just a text file). Look for the WON_SPLASH_79 entry. It should be there in the file, looking like:

#WON_SPLASH_79
art\wonder splash\Lighthouse.pcx

If it isn't, then it indicates that your all-in-one installer failed in some way.

thanks a bunch! that fixed the error message. I'll probably have the same problem when the other ones get built but I'll fix them when the time comes since I don't know what number to add in the pediaicons.txt.

Also I'm still unsure if the improvement is helping me at all, because it doesn't show any added trade to the water squares within the city radius.

There's only one more after that entry:

#WON_SPLASH_80
art\wonder splash\Lighthouse.pcx

But if those were missing I'm concerned that your installer failed and you may suffer further problems as your game proceeds

I'm might be doing this in the wrong place, but... here it goes!

Isn't GOTM "technique" just downloading a .sav file and playing, uploading the final result? Does it need anything else?

What is the file "GOTM_Full_Mod.exe" for? What does it do?

If you're playing in PTW (or Conquests -- COTM), then currently no downloads are required.* The downloads are only necessary if you're only able or willing to play with original CivIII or the Mac version. They add some new units, civs, etcetera, and make some changes to the rule set, to make it as equivalent as possible to PTW. Without these changes, Mac players would never have been able to compete on an equal footing with everyone else, nor would anyone who'd never purchased PTW.

* Many older GOTMs did require downloads even for PTW players, but the current ones do not. COTMs do ask that one very small download be made as a fix for a barbarian movement bug; directions to do that are in the game opening threads, where applicable.

Welcome to the forum. :)
