I don't think we will need 3 spoilers for this contest! So this Final Spoiler covers the period from the Middle Ages on ... and anything else you'd like to comment on. How did your "struggle" against the Warlord level AI end?

GOTM 107 was very hard game according to this month's game for me. I don't know how to kept QSC,that I don't know how to register for events that were unable to save up to 1000 BC. I played this month's game in the open class and 900 AD with the victory over Conguest.
I'm going to assume this was meant for the GOTM108 final spoiler.

The game wasn't well suited for domination. I tried but would have needed a twin to be born with every settler unit (and a lot more time,) so I submitted a conquest victory instead. Rushed settlers and territory maximization probably cost me the BC win. It seemed pretty obvious that this game was designed to make domination more unattractive than ever, which was a nice variation.

I sent small task forces to each civ. The smallest, only 7 horsemen/swordsmen, went to Germany. But I was forced to send another galley to the last German island town, which, surprisingly, they wouldn't give me for peace. The stacks were fairly well balanced, but the distant German town cost me 2 additional turns.

I reaserached Monarchy and then finished the Great Lighthouse for a golden age. But I wish I had stayed in despotism. It would have made for a more interesting and unusual game. On the other hand I don't know what I would have done with all the excess cash in a no research/despotism game. Comparisons will be interesting but I don't expect to stand a chance against for example templar_x, the logstics master, if he participates. For this game was all about logistics and I deployed many ultimately pointless settlers before I gave up domination.

My best moment was in 2750 when I met an American scout across the water. I was able to trade mystisicm which got me closer to Monarchy.

Edit: Connect-disconnect in despotism - wow, that would have been interesting. Darn.

Well, I thought, since this was warlord, that it would be amusing to play a 100K game on a small island map with no cheap cultural buildings. And it was, mostly. I ICS'd everything, took out the Americans (except for a single far away town) and the Zulu, and had gotten up to 941 cpt with 129 cities by the end, in 1886. I had one city flip to the Indians. It later flipped back to me, as did their city that applied the cultural pressure that caused my city to flip to them.

:eek: That was a very lucky moment.

No town with Passive War this time.
Build only a few Archers and lot of Horseman.No Swords.
Start little offensive in 875bc to America->1 town
India in 710bc
Leader in 510 bc->rush G Ligthhouse->GA
450bc India gone
390bc America gone
450bc 1st Zuluwar->1 town
190bc+170bc captured Berlin,Madrid+Zimbabwe
130bc 2nd Leader->Army
70bc Zulu gone
30bc Spanish gone

"Lucky" is the proper word if you and other players also had units placed so that they could see the tiles on the other side of the water, all the time.

Good game, Memento.

I´ve placed Units too, but no Contact.
This luck is the same as anybody found a settler or something else.
Sometimes you have luck and sometimes someone else.
I didn´t mean negative. ;)

Despo or Monarchy. A good Question. I change in the 2nd Round of my GA-3 Rounds Anarchy- into Mona.
I think it was to late but i can rush some Habors for Lux and Temple for more Landtiles and few points more.

btw:I played Open. So i think u made a better job.

Thanks, I didn't take it as negative. I just wanted to point out that everybody may not have used any units as lookouts.

But this time I also played Open so you definitely did better!

Finished in a quick 2 day marathon...20K seemed like a simple choice as my guess of a Gilligan start was correct...skipped Colossus & Great Lighthouse as I wanted to get to MA (Republic) before Golden Age...used Smith's to start the GA (with Copernicus') only missed Bach's from the non-AA wonders...victory in 1957 AD with 3001 Jason Score.

I don't get it how you do it... :confused: Megalou, BC Conquest? You must be joking. (BTW you didn't post your date, or did I just overread it?)

The highlights:
  • Had a watch-out scout as well, but no unit moved in sight...
  • Went for MM and then Republic (wanted short-rushing), perhaps that wasn't smart? But happiness and unit upkeep never were a problem, so I don't see, what I would have gained by Monarchy?! Republic somewhere between 600 - 500 BC (can't remember).
  • Quite lucky on the trading side (once I had MM), got almost all AA techs! Was this really warlord??
  • No early leader, so Lighthouse was hand-built, starting GA in 250BC
  • First leader was between 100-200 AD. Rushed the FP in Delhi, but none of the horses built in India ever reached the front...
  • I wonder how you are successful with the "small task-force" approach. Most towns I met were protected by two spears (or two Impis!!) and most of the time I lost two horses. (In Zululand I employed a couple of swords to keep the losses low). I started 3 wars early while still in despotism (India, Zulus, America) and kept Spain/Germany for afterwards. Even as it was, I often had to wait for reinforcements. Can't imagine how you had enough forces for invading everywhere at the same time?

Lanzelot

Usually it's good for economy/research to "assimilate" the closest neighbour early, but with the short research paths of this game I agree with Memento. I played a messy game and wasn't near BC win. But 50 AD=Great game, 3 turns faster=Hard but possible
