Well, the VC is open this time, so a game that allows various strategies and victory conditions would be nice. And as Deity is already hard enough in itself, I would like to see not too many "luck factors", like nearby huts, necessity of suicide galleys etc.
Hmm, the start picture ("Oktoberfest" in München) looks familiar to me. We used it for an earlier GOTM/Germany a while back, didn't we? (And if I remember correctly, I argued already back the, that Bavaria is only a small part of Germany - and not really "representative" of the rest of Germany...
As an alternative let me offer a picture from the most beautiful town in Germany:
I had zero notice to set this game up and I'm busy for the rest of the day/weekend. I just grabbed the last Germany image we used. Please live with it until I can look again. Since the last PTW game only attracted two or three players, and this one is deity, I hardly think many people will even see it!
I appreciate it very much that you and Piú went through the trouble of setting this up on short notice! A Deity game, yummy! And with Germany! I had already been looking forward to this for quite a while (and made sure to finish COTM123 ahead of time so I can start this one... )
I've only been able to finish one Deity game, but I'll give this one a try. I'll probably settle in place, with the worker to the cow and research pottery. The Philosophy Bonus is probably a pipe-dream, so I'll go for IW after Pottery and hope for Iron nearby to allow me to kill off a local AI for more expansion. With luck they'll be the only one on my island. If I'm alone, I'll enjoy the period of quiet expansion while awaiting the inevitable AI invasion (probably with Cavalry against my Pikes).
Deny D., I have taken the usual precautions to make this Deity game winnable for normal Civ Players. I guess you still will need some luck and perseverance, and a lot of time, but there you are. The start position is really juicy. There's a BG under that Wheat. There will be contacts, but I hope no early steamrolling.
Get out there and have a look around! Survive until you get those Panzers!
I shall try to compete with you once again. My family and work situation being totally different these days, I'm not sure how it will work out, though.
