[PTW] 1.21f - Open Class
QwertySoft - been there, still doing that.
I used to play the '20 tile - no overlap' game myself and it wasn't until GOTM#22, and after having read numerous posts in the War Academy that I realised what was needed.
I never used RCP in any of my games - I didn't even know that it existed as a gameplan until joining CivFanatics. I used to think that it was poor city management when other CIVs did it.
But despite it looking 'ugly,' it has got to be done. I understand, now, why people do it - for corruption reduction in the 'shade' of the capital (or Forbidden Palace) - and I'm now one of them, but I don't like it. I do it but I don't do it out of choice. You have to do it to keep up with other scores that will be posted, and to try and get one up on the other CIVs in your game.
As for #138th position - I'd trade you for mine. 154th.
I too lacked conviction for a large battle against the Celts, English or Chinese. And when the Celts had wound me up too much, and I felt able to respond, I sent 8 galleys (no upgrade to transports) with 16 cavalry units - only to see most of them blitzed before reaching land.
As for the Histograph score, I can't say anything much about GOTM#23 (as I've already landed myself in hot water with Cracker - of which I was embarrassed about) but suffice it to say, that I went for that type of win when events panned out a certain way. You'll have to look for a post from me on that thread.
I think your analysis of your own failings is very commendable. I hope you crack it in time for the next few GOTMs.
Best wishes
