I started out planning for a fast conquest or domination, however the barbarians and Egyptians had different ideas. Three settlers were eaten by barbarians (two while escorted). My first war with Egypt saw 4 or 5 archers die to a spear in a town in the plains. The second wave of 7 or 8 archers ran into a massive barbarian uprising of horsemen.
Finally I decide that another victory condition is needed. Deep in the middle ages with a delayed change to Republic, I decide on a 100k cultural victory and build my first cultural building in Pisae (my capital after France took Rome for one turn in 350 AD) in the year 760 AD. I manage to gain the tech lead then shut research down and sell monopoly techs until the AIs catch me. Then I research past them and do it again. Cultural builds were Temple, Library, Cathedral, University, Colosseum in almost every town, rushed with available cash and gpt deals with other nations and the following great wonders:
Newton's University 1500 AD
Forbidden Palace 1500 AD
Smith's Trading Company 1590 AD
Theory of Evolution 1715 AD
Universal Suffrage in 1770 AD
Intelligence Agency in 1804 AD
