the search feasure was disabled, so i don't know if anyone has already posted something similar to this, though many probably have.

Which government is civ is the best. i usually go for republic as soon as possible, then i go for democracy.

i don't know much about the other. so, which is best?

It depends what you're looking for, really.

I go the Monarchy/Republic route myself. I prefer not to change guvs very often, unless I play a religious civ. Republic is almost as good as Demo, w/ low WW, so that is my prefered gov. Of course, I used to be pretty good at 'rightous wars' under democracy, and never really suffered for it.

I usually go with republic/monarchy (depending on my situation) to start and take off when I switch to democracy for the final push to the finish. With short surgical wars, you are able to control the WW factor and with the military costing only 1gpt per unit, it is usually cheaper than republic.

Haven't tried facism or communism but would like some feedback on these governments to see if they are a viable alternative.

PTW: Democracy/Communism Used Communism only for fighting wars, I'll prolly replace it with Facism since it looks to be more suited for war.

I tend to use republic/democracy.

so long as there's police stations, and if you time a palace-prebuild right for universal suffrage, a war in democracy isn't too bad to carry out, just need to make sure it doesn't drag on for too long.

Would like to try communism under conquests but since the fp and secret police hq don't work right now with the corruption bug, I haven't gotten to try that yet

Communism works well if you plan to be warring all the time

democracy is the best to make your civ great. But when youre at war be a communist yep A_T

I prefer Feudalism to Monarchy since I prefer whipping to payment.

Also I am at war all the time - so is Communism the best goverment then?

Which goverment should be best for warfare at the respective eras?

monarchy all the way. its better even when Im not at war because of the military police.

there are basically 2 types of warmongers, the methodical piece by piece type and the always at war till victory or death type.

Remember there are no rules ecthed in stone, but in general I would say:

The first type wages wars in a series: 10 to 20 turns of war, 1 enemy at a time, 10 to 20 turns of infrastruture building - back to war -repeat -repeat - good relations with everyone until it's their turn/ keep your ROPs ect.....As a newbie with this style it is better to go the Monarchy/Communism route. As an expierenced player you can get away with Republic the entire game - fascism if a world war erupts. (do not try the Republic route if your skills are still novice - it will fall apart on you). Wonders to shoot for Leo's and Sun Tzu's (and Universal Suffrage for the Republic route) - do not waste time on any of the others - none - NEVER - (exceptions: Zeus and K. Templars).

The second type usaually plays a militaristic CIV, usually starts with an archer rush on his nearest neighbor - and never lets up - never. The second type likes to alternate his wars between neighbors ensuring that none of them ever gets the chance to develop a sound infrastructure. he will wage wars against multiple CIVs if need be, he will choose a perfect moment to violate that ROP later in the game, and he will try to keep every CIV in the game involved in tangled alliances of never ending AI vs AI wars. This style has no room for republics or democracies - Monarchy the whole game/ or 1 switch to Communism later on. Wonders to shoot for: Leo's - all others taken by force. (exceptions: Zeus and K. Templar).

Very general guidlines only - hope this helps

By the way folks:

Feudalism is a near worthless Government type - not even close to Monarchy for wageing war - inferior to Republic as well, unless your you have a tiny - small town CIV. the uses for this Government are very very limited - and never last long. Un-modded- one of the very FEW lousy additions to C3C.

reconsider your strat Frosty........

Republic in times of peace, then I switch to Monarchy when I get into a prolonged war.

I voted for Republic. It seems that it is the most flexible, especially important when playing as a non-religious Civ. What I mean by flexible is that you can research at a fairly rapid rate under Republic and still go to war under it (albeit, not for very long).

Republic is my fav for a lot of the game. It allows limited warmongering, you can have it early and gives you solid trading and helps fight corruption.

I usually go despotism/monarchy/democracy, due to the fact that my economy can't handle republic when it's time for it.
