I often like going for a Space Victory early on to explore the tech tree and play out a "full game".

Parameters:
Civ4!
Level: Probably Noble
Civilization: TBD
Map Type: Continents
Size: Standard?
Other: TBD

Variant rules
All victory conditions will be enabled, but we want to go for a space victory.
I am considering concentrating on a builders game though warfare remains an option.

The game will start up when players have copies of the game.

Requirement:
None at all.

Roster:
Greebley
Eldar
A Space Oddity
Gyathaar
Renata
ThERat

May I join? I'm in Europe though so you'd have to wait 'til 4th Nov.

<--- is US-ian. :p

I'd love to join if you'll have me, Greebley. I'll be unavailable from about November 11 through November 28, but on the plus side, I should have my copy of CivIV in my greedy little hands by Wednesday or Thursday if UPS is kind.

seeing a Greebley game, how could it be without me? But Singapore only gets Civ4 confirmed 4th Nov, and you got 4 more players. So, if you still take me, I would like to be in

I don't mind a 6th.

Roster:
Greebley
Eldar
A Space Oddity
Gyathaar
Renata
ThERat

I pre-ordered and will probably get the game 1-3 days after its out (It's being shipped to me). Anyone who gets the game should feel free to make comments on ideas, strategies, or initial settings that we may want to play with. Assuming everyone is going to own the game by the 4th, then I think I would aim for the game starting up near the start of November and play the first turn slowly enough so we all get to play. I may change roster order based on when players get the game.

Sounds good to me. Great company to get to know the game in, I'm really looking forward to this.

Are you sure about the random Civ? Discussing leader traits could be a good start. :mischief:

Don't worry, I totally agree on SS as the victory of choice. ;)

great team, I really hope to get a hold onto the game sooner than 4th, next week we have 2 public holidays and that would make a nice time to test the game.

I also think we should not go for random civ, but test something out. Really looking forward to this.

Thx! :D

What about Spiritual? To experiment with the civics, and flexibility to that regard if (when! ;)) we make a wrong choice...

And Philosophical with enhances the birthrate of great people and makes Uni's cheaper?

That would be... *drumroll* ... Saladin of the Arabs (UU = Camel Archer - replaces the Knight)

Can you tell I've been spelling the info lately?

I'd be inclined to play as Mali just 'cos they're brand new.

The whole game is brand new. I do know what you mean though.

For my own benefit and others I copy pasted the traits.
Trait - Benefit
Aggressive - Free promotion of melee and gunpowder units. Double production speed of barracks and dry dock.
Creative - +2 culture per city. Double production speed of theater, coliseum.
Expansive - +2 health per city. Double production speed of granary and harbor.
Financial - +1 gold on plots with 2 gold. Double production speed of bank.
Industrious - Wonder production increased 50 percent. Double production speed of Forge.
Organized - Civic upkeep reduced 50 percent. Double production speed of lighthouse and courthouse.
Philosophical - Great People birth rate increased 100 percent. Double production speed of University.
Spiritual - No anarchy. Double production speed of the temple.

------------------------------------------------------
I would kind of like to try Expansive just because it sounds very different than previous traits. Are there any good expansive civs? Not sure what I would want the other trait to be...

I like the idea of Spiritual, just to mess around with all the different Civics. Why couldn't they use the SMAC model where it just cost money...? (actually a lot of stuff that's "new" in Civ IV will be familiar to SMAC players)

Spain sounds good to me!

OK, if we go with Spain we get cheap granaries. Possibly they are even more important than they were in III. They should be built in cities with corn, grain or wheat, maybe we need to choose a fertile world to make most of this ability. :hmm:

What about the competition? There are no restriction on the number of AI in a world, any ideas/opinions? And will we play quick, normal or epic (= number of turns in the game).
