Grab the Game, Ghandi! -open succession game-

Well Donsig, Play quickly :crazyeyes :crazyeyes :crazyeyes :crazyeyes

Hmmm.... My plan to culturally take over Zululand fizzled.

Played as fast as my old computer would go...

1305 - 1330 AD: Dhondi the Patient, distant descendant of the Donsig dynasty inherits the throne. He redeployes forces against Zululand's eastern possesssions.. Is best remembered for his discovery that the Black Sea fleet cannot sail into the Med.

1350: Dhondi II, grandson of Dhondi the Patient, ascends the throne. In Impi is spotted near Paris. When told to leave Shaka declares war. Indian forces move immediately in the east and New Zimbabwe, New Bapedi, Rouen, Zunguin and Umfolozi are razed. On the western front, Zulu slaves are taken.

1355: New Ulundi razed in the east while Ulundi is attacked in the west.

1360: Ulundi captured, Munford founded in the east.

1365: Grenoble razed and Zulus are now confined to the west(?). Goat Island founded in the Med. Iron deposits exhausted near Freddy Blakkia.

1370: Zulus have musketmen in the west. Dhondi II pillages improvements rather than attack the cities.

1375: Dhondi II passes into history but before he does he gets a closer look at the stars thank to Copernicus. He also lives to spend half the treasury on muskets...

Here is what is left of Zululand. Think we need some cannons to take the cities, but I'm not sure. I would keep the western cities when captured.

The Great Leader is in Moscow. I think we should use him to build the Forbidden Palace but I could not decide whether it should be in Ulundi (or another western Zulu city) or in one of our new eastern cities...

I razed the eastern Zulu cities and planted some brand new Indian cities in their place. Rome built in the artic and China is looking for a place to build a city in our newly conquered lands.

I've been moving the eastern elephants to the west...

Good luck to who ever plays next and my apologies for taking so long on this tonight!

Wow, alot of cities taken in one turn.

It was pre-planned. I was going to attack the Zulus when our 20 turns of peace was up and had stationed 4 elephants outside most of their eastern cities. They declared war a couple turns early.

BTW, the GL is in Ulundi, not Moscow. He is shown in the screenshot I attached!

Go MrGeneric.
Heading to bed shortly - While I need the money, the new job is killing my ability to play civ.

Nice work, guys! Now let's eliminate those Zulus from the face of the earth. I don't think we can take their cities with elephants alone, if they've got musketeers. But never say never when it comes to civ3 combat. Last time I saw an indian pikemen attack a zulu swordsman by mistake, and win without a scratch.

But we probably need artillery and cavalry. So our research project should aim for military tradition sometime.

Game is still open! :)

We're a few turns from getting metallurgy which will allow us to build cannons. In the meantime we can pillage Zululand's Spanish possessions. I made it to their saltpeter tile but haven't pillaged it yet.

I think we also should start building a navy. I got really tweaked when I finally realized our Black Sea galled couldn't sail into the Med! We should build Constantinople to bridge the two bodies of water. Since France is already being attacked by two other civs...

Last sugestion: We should make some settlers to found cities in the void left in the east by razing all those Zulu cities.:)

1375 AD Another son of an elephant trainer, the old, kind and generous Habibi Snurrulalumpur, seizes power by popular consent. Immediately he sets out to bring India scientifically in front; inspired by the many hours spent in the famous observatorium in Delhi. He knows that some day, man will travel into space. And there is only one way, science must be prevail! Many emmissaries come on his day of initiation, to buy famous indian maps, and a few of Indias great scientific achievements. Soon his treasury can afford a science of 100% once again.

1380 We love the Mahatma day celebrated all over the empire, in honour of our new king!
As his first action, he orders full-scale attacks on the remaining Zulu cities, including their capital. It is his firm belief, that only when the zulu threat is eliminated, can his kingdom grow, and science prosper. This war must end, and nothing less than zulu submission is acceptable. Indian forces capture Isandlawana quite easily, and decimate garrisons of other zulu cities.

Donsig, you were worried about attacking the cities? With such many elephants, its a piece of cake! ;)

1385 Habibi conquers the zulu capital, Zimbabve, and proceeds with the conquest of the Iberian peninsula. Settlers have built two new cities. Habibi south of Austria and Snurrulalumpur in the far east, neighbouring the chinese.

1390 Russians offer peace. We demand their city of Minsk, and we get it. Upon inspection, what a worthless city! Joan of Arc comes to ask about the indian troops within her territory. We declare war, when she won't give us rights of passage.

1395 Lyon captured and razed, since we want to build Byzantium on the strip connecting the black sea to the mediterrenean.

1400 DAMN! The zulus got a saltpeter source in North Africa! Now I can understand how they can keep produce musketmen, even if I kill one after the other. Our GL is dead now, along with our army. There weren't any wonders around, so I figured he might form the army. Now we're building Magellans, Smiths and the heroic epic.

1410 Expedition dispatched to North Africa to destroy zulu saltpeter mines there. Byzans established. Hmmm. Are the chinese attacking us now? Seems it was a zulu knight run loose in Persia. Zulus? Hm! Where did they now come from? From North Africa?

1425 Marseilles captured. The french now only have a few of their core cities left, plus a handful of polar cities. King Habibi retires in old age, giving way to a more youthful king, who will crush the zulus and take the indians to the stars.

1430ad - Orleans was captured by the Indian War Elephants. Rushed 3 barracks close to our borders to start upgrade operation and 2 temples.
1435ad - Started Military Academy in Berlin. Two resistors were quelled in Orleans (2 to go). 8 War Elephants upgraded to cavalry (80 gold). A lot of workers move without my knowledge (are they automated?). Destroyed Zulu road connection to horses. 2 Temples rushed. Lost 1 Dumbo to Rheims.
1440ad - Increased from 7 to 19gold/turn the price of furs to the Romans. Sold wines to the Iroquois for 16gold/turn. Price of furs to Japan increased from 6 to 21. Price of iron to Americans increased from 38 to 75. Sold furs to Persian for 5/turn. Wall Street being produced at Rochester III. Another resistor quelled in Orleans (1 to go). Dumbo lost to Longbowman next to Hlobane. 2 Dumbos upgraded.
1445ad - Resistance in Orleans has ended. 4 Dumbos upgraded. 2 Cavalries lost to Hlobane. Rheims was captured. Temple rushed there.
1450ad - 6 Dumbos upgraded. Tour was captured (1 resistor).

These turns take forever, so I've played just 5 turns. The Zulus were lucky at Hlobane. Their musketmen got to the last hitpoint and destroyed two cavalries. That's the only situation where a mobile unit doesn't retreat. I don't like this rule, and I don't know why the designers did that.

Anyway, here's the game. The zipfile is already 432K. The next player might not be able to attach it to the thread.

It is beginning to lag a little with the huge map. But a lot can happen in 5 turns in this game, so its more than enough. :)

The save always varies in size; the zip has been as big as 400+ earlier on, and later games have been closer to 300k. I guess it depends on how much is going on in the game. I doubt the zip will get bigger than 500k.

Plans :
How about a brazilian adventure? Seems South America is the only continent, where there's room for expansion. But its probably more fun to try and stage an invasion of Roman Africa. After we wipe out the zulus from Spain, that is.

Did we ever build a forbidden palace? If we're heading for the new world we'll need it over there...

(Not playing, just talking:) .)

I don't see any one PLAYING!

I am claim a spot. Hopefully, the forum will stay up long enough for me to post my results.
