I noticed the inspiration behind the Palmyra project was to raise awareness of the plight of Palmyra and to celebrate Palmyran culture.

Another equally impressive archaeological site located about half way between Antioch and Palmyra is Apamea.

Apamea was one of the great cities of ancient Roman Syria and is graced with a 2km long colonnade - which is one of the longest in the Roman world. The street itself inside the Colonnade was about 20m wide and the porticoes of the colonnade were covered in impressive mosaics. Side street would intersect with the colonnade and lead to baths, agoras, temples, basilicas and other important buildings.

Despite sustaining damage from earthquakes over the years it was always repaired and its last restoration was carried out by the East Roman Emperor Justinian 1 who apparently built a new drainage system. The significance of these works implies that the city retained its economic importance well into the 6th century suggesting that even a century after the fall of Rome the Hellenic half of the Empire was still prospering.

The city itself was later destroyed by the Sassanid Empire and like hundreds of other cities in the region was later abandoned after the islamic conquests.

Since the Syrian war with Isis Apamea has also been the target of theft and vandalism. The link below shows some amazing close up pictures of the site and its amazing colonnade.

Though I'm no expert in modding or in graphical design (I'm working towards getting those skills though) but I think a world wonder for the Apamea Colonnade would be a great tribute to this amazing city and its legacy if anyone has the interest of taking that on.
I'd place the Wonder in the currency technology and give it some economic bonuses.

Requirements: Cannot be built in a capital city. Apamea was a planned city and not like the crowded overpopulated metropolis's like Ancient Rome or Athens. You'll need to build the Grand Colonnade in a city that isn't your capital.
This is also to help break up the typical wonder whoring that capital cities engage in. It has a modest production cost for the time it is available so is not too prohibitive to build considering the economic benefits the wonder provides. It should be great for a Liberty player who has got their expo's out early and needs an economic boost. It's gold bonuses are amplified by growing the city larger so it provides a bit of global happiness to offset that. Who wouldn't be happy to live in a city with such a great monument.

Cost: 185 :c5production:
+1 :c5culture:
+2 :c5happy:
+25% :c5gold:
Trade routes other players make to a city with the Grand Colonnade will generate an extra 1 :c5gold: for the city owner and the trade route owner gains an additional 1 :c5gold: for the trade route.
All resource tiles worked by this city with road access gain +1 :c5gold: income (yes this includes luxuries, strategic and bonus resources... so even wheat, cattle and deer etc... will provide some gold)

That's just a idea. I'm sure others could come up with some better thoughts for the types of bonuses the Wonder provides. In the end it's not shouldn't be a gamechanging Wonder just something that makes an expo city a bit more economically productive.

I've heard of Apamea, interesting idea for a wonder. I have alot on my plate right now even though my classes have ended for the semester (yay!). I am currently working on a mod, and a tutorial series.

That said, I have been putting together a list of things people have requested that I may be interested in making a peripheral mod or incorporating into my WIP CivFinity mod. So I will add this to the list of considerations, if no one beats me too it. ;)

Go for it if you can - there's a bit of a lack of late classical features in Civ 5.
