Grand Theft Auto V

Would the HD consoles be able to handle such a detailed San Andreas, anyway? IV's map was smaller than SA's, but was well rendered and had lots of things to do within the confines of the city to make up for it.

I have no idea how much data it would take to redo all of San Andreas with such beauty, especially since they'd likely expand the cities to make them feel more real.

Given that LA is the New York of the West Coast, I wouldn't be surprised if it is just Los Santos(massively expanded and re-designed) with a few small towns and countryside.

As an easter egg, I hope they hide a rendering of Catalina's hut somewhere in the woods if there is countryside.

Indeed, I think it will be just Los Santos, but with expanded countryside.

That would still be great, even if it was just Back O'Beyond/Red County

One of the things I liked about Catalina's shack was the view of San Fierro

I'm only joking. I'm fine with LA alone. I hope they have those horse race gambling games like they did in SA.

What is this building under construction? Do you think it's the Wilshire Grand Plaza?

I am going to be totally dissapoint if there are limited access to the interior of buildings all across the map. I really want to be able to explore all, and, do mini-burglary missions, or buy any homes, buildings, and businesses.

To do Arson in all building is probably impossible. But would make it really cool if that feature was available.

Buildings with interior are awesome and I'm sure they know that. I think the lack of home purchasing in GTA IV was to further their political statement that the American dream does not exist. They tried to make the immigrant feel limited, but they probably know that their audiences doesn't care and they just want to buy houses.

The shot of the guy putting a 'for sale' sign up is probably evidence that homes will be for sale.

That is probably true. And I have to say that the reason right there was pretty much the right idea for the overall story.:)

I guess that does make sense then, the limited houses in GTA IV.

...Of course, there's a fine line between realism and insanity, and I think GTA IV sometimes crosses it. I like being able to go at speeds of 100+ mph and not die from it. If I wanted reality, I'd go driving in the real world.

I do hope for real estate. Only having one or two houses for such a massive city is insane. Make them more expensive if necessary, but at least make them available!

I hope that there will be free roams. The only reason I still play GTA IV is for it's considerable role-play abilities. Cop and life clans have kept me playing for years.

Yeah, on the PC there are many people that still play mostly the free roam aspect of the multiplayer.

It's their thing I guess. To me, it was all about TDM and DM. I was at the top 5 in TDM for a long time. :/

I just hope we get more customization for the multiplayer. It isn't that important to me for the SP.

Yes, but I really do not want the weapons as they were in RDR. I play GTA 4's free modes (I guess it's my thing) and I like that it is actually free. Meaning if some jerk is spawn killing me, at least he's not doing it with his advanced, level 52, customized assault rifle that I can't have because I'm only level 10. That really got to me in RDR. The clothing was a lot cooler, but they really screwed up the weapons. Also, there should be no ranked free mode. It creates an incentive to kill people rather than do something fun. In GTA 4 FMs people do kill each other, but at least you'll find the frequent racers, demo derbiers, marathon runners, stun jumpers, helicopterers, cop shooters, role players, and so on. In RDR everyone just wants to rank up and it's either Twin Rocks 6.022 x10^23 times, or spawn killing noobs without all the weapons. In GTA if someone is spawn killing, you'll grab armor and an M4 (same weapon they have) and cap them. End of Story.

I fully agree with this.

Ooo, does three discs enhance the possibility of three cities? :mischief:

I'm used to being overly optimistic. :p

I know everyone's hopping on the "Tommy Vercetti" idea since I guess the voice sounds like Ray Liota and Tommy'd be in just the right age group for the idea of someone settling down(plus someone broke down the trailer and mentioned lots of similarities to Vice City's cutscenes featuring Tommy).

Though it seems another idea circling about is multiple protagonists, or rather, multiple storylines, all in the same city. Multiple discs would definitely allow this, though as I said prior, by that point they're better off releasing each as a separate game. Unless they make the three discs a bundle that gets jacked up in price.

I do hope they bring back gang territories, though. For me, that was half the fun of San Andreas, since it made my strategy game-loving side squee in delight.

Also, every inch of gangland should be territory, rather than just parts like in San Andreas. It really angered me SA had so many gangs yet only a handful of territories existed, and they were all solely in the paws of your gang and the two enemy gangs. I suppose the idea was you shouldn't be able to attack the Triads or Aztecas(given their status as allies, despite the fact Aztecas will happily shoot you if they see you ), but there were plenty of other enemies to fight. And just to major league troll, Rockstar made it so you couldn't unlock more territories in later versions with that glitch.

What would have been nice was if once you got to San Fierro, Triad territory became "your" territory and turned green once you teamed up with Wu Zi, then you could fight the Da Nang Boys and San Fierro Rifa for control of the city. Then add some gangs into Las Venturas, either that or fight for turf against various Mafia families.

would've been nice if some of the smaller territories actually had regular gang member spawns though so you could actually take them over without camping

also the territories were the buggiest aspect of the game even in the fully patched incarnation

That idea is awesome!

I know in the original versions there seemed to have been Rifa, Mafia, Triad and Da Nang territories. I think so because in the strategy guide, they give areas outside Los Santos gang territories.

Likewise, in the final strand of missions where you help the Aztecas retake their neighborhood, the strategy guide says the minimap flashes red, indicating the Aztecas used to have territory as well. There is even a well-reported glitch - around the time of that mission, the territory is available to take. But as soon as you complete the mission, the territories are removed from the map.

I always found it funny how the Vagos tend to gain an extra territory in the Bayside area north of San Fierro, as a natural consequence of the missions where you must fly out over the map.

It could be worse. The territory glitch creates blocks of territories with NO ROADS in them, meaning no gang members spawn, which means you have to lure them from other areas. Obviously very tedious if there's no roads for miles.
