Is there any chance, say, if I were to find you a picture of Edmund Barton (the first Aussie prime minister), you could design a leader head? The lack of a head is the second problem I've run into with my Aussie civ mod...and I really don't want to make Edmund Barton look like Hiawatha.

Why in the world would the Arabs want Saladin as their leader?
He's a Western hero, not an Arab hero!
In the middle east, few people have even heard of Saladin.
He didn't kick out the Crusaders, in fact, at best, he "tied" with King Richard... sure, he was all nice to the Crusaders, maybe that's why he's so well remembered in the West... but in the Middle East, the guy who came AFTER Saladin, is the man who the Arabs tell legends about... after all, HE KICKED THE CRUSADERS OUT OF THE HOLY LAND!!!! Saladin never accomplished this at all!
Please read up on the Crusades before offering up a leader that only the West likes as a ruler of the Arabs!

I'm not that familiar with Arab history though. But I knew at that time the empire stretched all the way to Spain at one end and Northern India (or was that north-eastern China?) at the other end
Hmm.. but this game is about civilizations, not whole empires. I mean there maybe be the Chinese civilization, but in history, the chinese were split into many kingdoms before they were united. Only to be broken up again and later reunited. Over and over. Even today, China is split into PROC, Taiwan ROC, Hong Kong SAR and Macau (yeah, the last two are officially part of China but they have a completely independent administration). And surely there are other civilizations that are split apart into many nations at times.
But i still would like to know who i should make the leader of the Arabs.

Err, sorry for commenting on your messages again. Not that I have anything against you or anything. Just my ideas. Maybe the shunned government should be communism since that government is really anti-religion. The arabs really opposed the Soviet Union at that time, right? Anyway I can't think of who should be the leader either, but maybe if I can do a bit more research, I'll think of somebody
No, many Arab nations worked close with the Soviet Union, and some of the Arab nations we see today has armies and air forces funded by the russians, Syria for example, was given 25 Su-24 Attack planes in exchange for a trading relationship, and so did many other arab nations. It was oil for guns as they say.
The Arab nations were of different loyalties at the time,
Soviet Allies: Syria, Iraq, Libya, Yemen, Algeria
American/British Allies: Saudi Arabia, Jordania, UAE, Oman, Morroco
And the neutral ones, it depends on how you see it, really.
