Graphics Bug

Bug: At random times, when I load BTS v3.13 with Bhruic's patch (I run Windows XP Professional SP2 Media Center Version), the game goes through the steps to initialize (i.e Loading XML, Loading Python, Initiating Game Engine etc Window), but doesn't go through; instead, there is a black screen and a constant switching on and off of the monitor.
Fix: I've tried updating my graphics card, but the graphic card refuses to recognize new drivers, citing "an inability to download source file" or something similar.

Any and all help would be appreciated. My graphics card is a Radeon X300 Series and a Radeon X300 Series Secondary. I'm not sure if this is below BTS requirements. If I need to buy a new Graphics Card, please let me know. Thank you!

Where did you find the page detailing the problem? I'm having a similar problem in vista running on my new tv at 1920x1080. I have another vista machine running on a monitor at 1920x1200 with the same video card and drivers, which works fine...

It is a blank black screen (tv says mode not supported). I hear music and such, so it goes into the menu, but I don't see the intro movie, 2k logo, or anything.

CivIV warlords and regular work fine on the TV... just BTS does this.

Well, I fixed the issue by changing my resolution in Windows before starting the game... Odd that this would cause any trouble, since the game itself changes the resolution to 1024x768. I then upped the resolution in the game and it is working. At the same time I tried this, I also installed Bhuric's unofficial patch... so that may have had something to do with it as well.
