Graphics in the book "America (The Book)"

Some video game or some software was used to make some of the graphics in America (The Book). Do any of you know what was the software in question?

I couldn't find any screenshots of the graphics in question. They're on page 52 and 110 of the book.

Apparently, there is no specific software that they use for this. Too bad. Their art is fantastic though.
