Moderators, I realize there is a subforum for graphic modpacks and that I'm not in it. I didn't post this there because all the threads in that forum were people posting their artwork, rather than non-artists shopping for new graphics, so I assumed that some noob posting a 'which modpack should I use' thread would come off very stupid and disrupt the forum. Just so you know I gave this some thought and wasn't just being a sloth.

Now to the question. I find the array of graphics modpacks unmanageably overwhelming, but I've seen some images I really liked. Clearly there's some impressive talent going into them. Is there a large modpack that covers nearly everything in the game and gives it a prettier face? Or at least a full units modpack, a full terrain/enhancements modpack, etc? I'm interested in recommendations that would mean the least amount of piecemeal downloading but yet would look attractive in the game.

There are the full gamet of mods. I use the Metallic one that changes the interface. I use the Femme Fatale for the advisors as they look so good and the happy face popheads to be able to easily tell the unhappy pop.

I think I have a border one as well, but there are ton of those around. I keep the units as there came.

Moderator Action: You chose wisely. ;)

The basic answer to your question is, no, there is no overarching "here's everything you want" graphics mod. Personally, I just use snoopy's terrain graphics, and moodbadge popheads.

Where do you get these and what do they look like? As in, what does the terrain look like...

Snoopy's can be found here. That thread includes a link to his Conquests version.

Here are the moodbadge popheads I use. (Note: they don't work in Conquests. But if you search, I believe someone made some for that, too.)

Basically, just visit our Graphics Modpacks subforum. :)

Thanks. Life on forums has taught me that new people who screw up--but were trying to do the right thing--get forgiven a lot quicker than people who nihilistically just expect that they can do whatever they want, then scream and whine because life has rules.

I'll check out the packs you mentioned, and gracias on the links.

I believe that CFC is one of the new-member-friendliest forums.

And Here are the borders I use, and I've seen many people using it too, because they're simple and easy to tell IMO.

I'd agree. Very patient. At the same time, one never wants to make a new member mistake if it's avoidable.

Nice-looking borders. I'll have to try that one, thanks.

I tried installing that terrain mod that was mentioned up the page a bit, but it went horribly wrong. I took everything out of the terrain folder and replaced it with everything from the .zip. Things went a bit wrong there. I take it I'm not supposed to take everything out of it, am I right? Could someone point me in the right direction?

After you make a backup, paste everything directly over the stuff.

Do not delete everything! Some things are left untouched, so not provided in the graphics mod, and deleting it would mess up the game coding.

@ jkk: You could have posted this equally well in the main Creation and Customization subforum. But, you know better than most newbies to post in the graphics mod section. You actually read the rules before you post! It makes me -> :)

And here it is. One of them, at least. You can find more moodbadges here.

Very nice, thank you. This artist seems to really have it together, so do you think I'm safe assuming that anything incompatible with C3C would be labeled? Seems like I've read some discussion about graphic mods having to be reworked for C3C that worked fine on vanilla C3 and perhaps PTW, so I'm watching for that.

@Bluemofia: I think it comes of being a pretty strict mod on another board. All the thoughtless actions and stuff I've had to pick up after, all because someone just couldn't be bothered to read the flipping rules. I try not to be that someone. A lot of people on message boards have yet to realize that you get more help--more eagerly--if you try being polite and cooperative.

...and those popheads, as well as some other little changes. Welcome to CFC! :)

More like, if something is compatible with C3C, it will be labeled as such. ;) We tried to get people to indicate what version(s) of the game their mods were compatible with, but with limited success. Key things that changed between Vanilla/PTW and Conquests/C3C are Terrain, Resources, and Popheads.
