Buying a Great Person with gold only gives 1 Era Point, though the Civilopedia states it should be 3. I don't know which is wrong, but it's very annoying (to say the least) when you calculate everything and need those 2 era points for your Heroic Age. (now I gotta hope instead that I get those era points from my traders finishing their routes in the next few turns)

The same holds true for faith purchases, by the way.

Have you dedicated yourself to reforming your coinage? :)

I'm getting 3 era score for buying Great People both by faith and gold. Anything else that may be conflicting with it to cause the bug? Policy? Governor title?? If you just recruit one naturally with great people points it correctly gives 1 era score, but it should be giving 3 if you purchase them.

Yup. The other options were Hic Sunt Dracones (I'd already discovered most of the map and wasn't planning any naval combat, plus I had 5 allies out of 8 AIs), Heartbeat of Steam (I wasn't ready to start building Industrial Era buildings yet because I was behind on tech) and To Arms! (I had found out just before I wasn't exactly up to warring with anyone, plus I'm pretty sure the only possible target of Sumeria had no corps and armies yet)

Weird. At how much gold or faith did you buy them? I figured that might be part of the problem, I believe I haven't bought any more expensive than 2000.

They were early, less than 1000g. Some of the historic moments have max era requirements (may not be listed?). Was yours later in game? And were you actually getting the historic moment specific to buying them (has the gold bars artwork) vs. just the minor historic moment as if you had recruited a great person with points instead?

It's not a bug. You only get the 3 era points if your progress before the purchase was less than half the GP cost. That's what the tooltip in the timeline says. I don't know why they wouldn't write that into the civilopedia as well.

Thank you Maximo. It is indeed exploitative buying them just before you get them anyway.
It's nice to know the actual threshold.
