Great Prophet Points post Prophet?!

What the heck are the Great Prophet Points (& corresponding building/wonders) good for after you get a Prophet?
Are they converted to faith or are GPPs used as a currency for something else?


I tried to find an answer without success.

They appear to have no purpose, after the last Great Prophet is taken.

the civic card for great prophet point will disappear once you get your prophet or the last has been taken

The idea is - developers wanted race for religions and religious game to be different. You could get a lot of faith by, for example, adjacency bonuses, but not Great Prophet points.

Perhaps the choice is if you place your Campus or Holy Site at that "good" spot next to multiple Mountains, so you choose between an early/better Religion or more Great Scientists over the whole game.

And thats not wrong. Just that the GP points get void afterwards. They should have some use afterwards, but only if you actually founded a religion (so you wont exploit it by saving up the points without actually using them until the last is taken).
Something like them becoming "Reformation-Points" afterwards that could be used to add additional effects to your religion or replace older ones. Actually, I like the replacing idea. Either by non-taken believes or extra reformation believes.

Religion enhancement is carried out by burning Apostles, according to the devs in their religious stream as Spain (I believe).

According to the forums here, the Hagia Sophia provides Great Prophet Points. But you must have founded a religion to build it. But you are all saying there is no use for Great Prophets after founding a religion?

This makes no sense to me. What am I missing?

That's old information...None of the wonders provide Great Prophet points anymore

Your information is outdated. The Hagia Sophia doesn't require a religion any more and doesn't give Great Prophet Points any more.

It doesn't give Great Prophet points, though.
