Great works acquired through peace deal but no room for them

I don't have anywhere to put them, so do they just go away? Or does the AI Civ get to keep them. I got some other stuff too, it was a good deal.

Mvemba a Nzinga was close to culture victory, so I was fighting him. He asked for peace and offered me a ton of his great works. I didn't have room for any of it, but I thought losing all that may slow him down, so I accepted. I assume (and hope) they all went away. Unfortunately he still ended up winning a few turns later; I guess he still had a lot of tourism inertia...

That has to be a bug, right? A few days ago I traded a painting for a relic but had no place to put the relic in. So it disappeared. Fortunately I autosave every turn. I don't know if the works that disappear will reappear if you build or acquire a building that has appropriate slots for the works that disappeared.

That's the exact situation I was in, including fighting (but mostly pillaging) Mvemba a Nzinga. He's farther away from a victory than he was in your game, but I still think it was too little too late.
Thanks to all who answered.
