Lets face it, 2005 does look like a perfect year for the top strategy games.
There is our Civ IV (which we know some info, but really no details).
There is Age of Empires III, which has awesome graphics.
And there is Empire Earth II, which will have some very interesting diplomacy and military concepts to it.

These three in my opinion are the top three strategy games.
Again, we don't know much about Civ IV so I guess you just have to use what you already know about the series and vote.

So what do you think, which will be the best of 2005, and why?

AoE3 and CivIV is like comparing Mario and Counterstrike, they are completely different!

AoeII was far better than civ3, in my opinion, from an overall game standpoint.

The question becomes one of when will RTS games exhaust their potential?

The Civ series has shown that TBS games can always add new elements...

. . .

You just compared them by saying one was better than the other.

Civ IV because it seems like so. The brand is really well known so... Maybe AoE III but thatts not a strategy game and finally EE II which promises to be good but Sierra hasnt lived up to most of its promises yet. (is counterstrike by sierra???, if so then I stand corrected)

I played a demo of EEII and I didn't like it.
RTS Games are RTS games, they haven't changed.

Jeez, traitors! cIV of course! I'm gonna buy that game the second it comes out!

And also, you cannot compare RTS and TBS so stop trying to.

Well, there's not a lot of other good turn-based strategy games to compare Civ to, so I don't see a big deal there.

I think the best strategy game of 2005 is Hearts of Iron 2, but out of the 3 on the poll, Civ 4 will probably be best, with AoE 3 being good as well. And I've never played Empire Earth.

At the moment, it's Hearts of Iron II. :p

We'll see once Civ 4 comes out, ;)

Civ4 will definitely come on top of the other 2 as the depths are not on the same level. AOE III and EEII are on the same level.

I would wait a little bit until buying it when it becomes cheaper (Holiday season=high prices) and they catch some bugs if thereare any

Civ4. Too easy. :D

I'm not expecting much from the other two. Frankly, I'm not expecting much from Civ4, but it looks better than the others.

Umm, Aoe2 is soo much better than Civ and the TBSs. RTS games are just much better. Also, AoE3 has got really good graphics from the screens and they have never disappointed. They even have a game, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, that is basically the same game with the same engine except it's Star Wars.

None. Star Wars: Empire at War is the best!
