How would you rate these five commanders of Alexander the Great:

Parmenio
Cleitus
Craterus
Antipater
Hephaestion

Who was the best? Who was the worst? Give reasons why.

They had different functions in the Macedonian army, and are as such incomparable on a one-dimensional scale. Alexander personally considered Hephaestion to be his best commander, for what it's worth.

Eumenes?

Going by their careers after Alexander died, Eumenes, Lysimachos, and Seleukos were his most able overall commanders.

I'm a little confused that you put in Kleitos - the man was only a somatophylax, and not responsible for battlefield command.

Guys, you're justifying your own hedonism by destroying Western civilization if you don't presume that Alexander was completely straight through and through.

Oh, he was straight through and through alright. Through and through other guys' pants!

I voted Antipater
