Green Screen

Hello. While playing Civ4 the other day the game packed-up and a green screen appeared with no error message. On switching the computer off then on I got the screen which gave options to switch on in Safe Mode, etc. Everything seems fine now for I have been playing the game since. When I used to play the game on XP occasionaly the game stopped and returned to DeskTop.
I have now a computer that is just a few weeks old with Vista Home Premium. Has anyone had a similar experience? I have an idea that there is something in the program that doesn't like a particular action (something like a long Goto command at sea?) Any suggestions shall be welcome. Thanks.
