Greenland Overhaul

I know it's a rather neglected place.
But here is my suggestion,
I tried to make it worth settling but not worth going out of your way to settle it.
I also did some studying on it.

EDIT: Removed to save room. Look at newest map suggestion few posts down

• Made Greenland's west mostly tundra to show that YES, you can build cities in Greenland.
• Added rivers for fjords
• Has 3 suitable spots, Nuuk, Julianehab, and Thule.
• Julianehab is good for getting to the Americas as Vikings and having a whale resource
• Nuuk is a good research city, one to keep on for later game. It has deer and fish.
• Thule is a good place to get that aluminum and whale.
• Center Greenland is plains to show that it's really just a lake with ice over it
• Added hills and mountains where appropriate.
• Removed an ice near Iceland to allow Greenland to be settled from Iceland, which it should

• I also believe Iceland and Greenland should be required to be settled before Vinland. That's why I set it up so Julianehab can be built to allow ship passage

• Iceland should be settled by 800. Greenland by 1000.
• Perhaps have the Thule natives appear around 1500 and push the Vikings out?

Do you really think Greenland needs that much food and places to settle? Population of Greenland is 56370, biggest city is Nuuk with population 15469 and second is Sisimiut with 5460 people.

I think it should have spot only for Nuuk in western coast and move whale and aluminum to its reach and remove other resources and rivers. Vikings can have access to east coast, so they can send settler to found Nuuk. If they want to have early access to America they can either build new ship in Nuuk or build forts to make channel.

Yes, I support a colonization of Greenland. But your suggestion is way too good.
If Iceland loses his reindeer, then why Greenland should get one?
I find already that Reykjavik is too large (size 13 +), because it has to much coastal tiles.

Adding more ice could make Reykjavik smaller. Or more universal solution could be nerfing ocean tiles. Instead of :food: and :commerce: they could yield two :commerce:.

Alright, so remove some of the food. Got it, I'll work on it.
Scrap the Qaqortoq (Julianehab) idea of access to America. (I think Vinland was settled more by 1100 than Greenland was)
Reduce food in Iceland.
Take out deer.
Remove fish
Remove whale from Thule.
Add in more snow tiles

How does this look?

I thought the title was a joke :D, but looks like it was not.

Great story.

I agree that Greenland should be at least settleable to whoever wants to (and added to the Viking settler map, though low priority of course). In my opinion the only remotely decent city should be in the historically inhabited southwest, which is fine with your current setup.

Move the forest in the top left corner 1S so (Nuuk?) 1S of the river can have it in its BFC.

EDIT: Unless there is supposed to be a different configuration.

There are no forests in those 3 locations, the only places they existed were on the southernmost tiles

I was thinking more of representing the park in the top right and making the top left look more aesthetically nice.
Sure, make a suggestion

I like the idea, as it would allow Greenland to be represented yet not making it a super spot. But still giving it some sense of functionality. Although I did like the first iteration of this way better than the second

Population of Greenland has been changed through 2500BC to modern times, depending on climate change. If you can make some scripts (including productivity of land, resources, ice positions etc.) to simulate climate change, it might produce some good chances to Vikings or English players.

Iaaaaaa... No whale at Julienahab.

The Julianehåb CNM actually covers the two southernmost settleable tiles (as well as the mountain in between them), so yes, the more northern one does get the whale.

well, my home city of 700,000 called khabarovsk is uninhabitable in DOC... (in the russian far east in those swamps)
