Is it normal not to get the game code from third parties so late? When should we expect it? I am starting to wish I had spent the extra $6 and pre-ordered from Stream. I wonder if it is too late to cancel my order and ask for a refund.

I emailed them about this a few days ago.

I was told this: "You will receive your keys shortly before the release date."

Brave New World is a small download so releasing the keys early isn't all that important.

You get the key from them when the game is released, as is said on the website.

As far as I can tell the website doesn't mention release of the keys at all. All it says is that the game is out on the 9th of July for North America and so this doesn't seem all that helpful.

It also seems not to be correct, given what I've been told.

If you go to your account page on the site and look at what games you've purchased it does indeed say that the BNW key won't be released until the game is released, so I'm assuming that the key will be available in approximately 17.5 hours.

What doesn't seem to be correct?

I see that, just wanted to know from past experience HOW much later after the game is released will I get the key? In 17.5 hours or much later?

They sent out the keys for XCOM, which is also Steamworks, the day before the launch of the game.

I'm pretty sure Gods & Kings keys were also before the release too. I don't remember that as well, though. I have a dated XCOM email from them, which is why I know.

If it's like Gods and Kings then you'll get it shortly after release.

G&K was released (for me) on 22 June at a minute after midnight (UTC). I got the email on 22 June at 12:10. Australia is UTC+10 so it came two hours after release. Other pre-purchases have been done in a similar fashion and so far they've been pretty reliable in getting the keys out in around 2 hours (XCOM had the same release time, I got the email at 12:11). I do recall though that others received them before me, so if you're lucky you might get it earlier - like theadder. :P

Thanks, this is reassuring. Sounds like I will have the key when I wake up tomorrow morning.

When I pre-ordered G&K they gave me a key straight away. I'm disappointed they didn't do that this time because this time there was a pre-load.

I am guessing they may have got in trouble last time for dishing out codes before release?

For G&K all the UK/EU codes they gave out unlocked on the US release date, seems they are holding them until the release this time.

Damn, I was hoping they do it again =)
Paying more in the EU AND waiting longer. Great deal for us in the old world ;)

I've bought one thing with them so far. It was a DLC for Crusader Kings. Got it the moment my payment was accepted and the purchase was made ~2 hours after the DLC got released.

With BMW there is a little uncertainty mostly because of this (copypasta):
Code:
This game is not available for download yet. It will be on . Any required keys will be made available on that date.
That's the info I've been getting on my "downloads" tab since the purchase ~5 weeks ago.

Same for me. Just a "." as placeholder instead of a date ..

Yeah, that was there for G&K as well. I emailed them about it then and they apologized for the error and clarified the dates as you would expect. Nothing to be worried about... unless you're outside of NA and have to worry about going insane from your extended lack of hands-on exposure to BNW.
