GreenMan Gaming Pre-order

mine also says this. My support ticket has been assigned to
additional edit: Mine just arrived via email.

and just got my key in an email, finally.

No email either here, but I am not in NA/Canada. Probably they'll send it worldwide, or are going to send in a few minutes.

Nearly installed. Definitely thinking I'll go to other vendors for preorders in the future, GMG sales for stuff I don't mind being late.

If they send all emails at once they'll be blacklisted so auto emailers send mails with a litlle time in between but a confirmation from a person who's not from USA or Canada would be fine.

It seems extremely unlikely that they're going to violate the release date for outside North America.

You shouldn't get too excited, I'm afraid.

Perhaps someone who lives in the UK would be nice enough to use their tele and phone them since they are up at this time.

It's located on the main page near the bottom: http://www.greenmangaming.com/:goodjob:

Interesting trying to find out where they actually are. The front page lists
©2011 U.G.K LTD. Hadera-IL, Post: 38203, VAT: 307722173.
which sorts of looks like UK or EU.

The About Us lists the address as
Company Name: UGK LTD.
San Jose, CA, United States
USA Local: 408 600 2815
International: +1 408 600 2815
so it is California.

The Contact Us lists support times as
Call Us: +1 408 600 2815
Working Hours: 14:00-20:00 GMT +2 (Monday - Thursday)
which is the normal EU time, but the phone is for San Jose and the availability seems to be UTC-4 or UTC-5, ie Eastern Coast USA.

So it looks like a EU/UK website for a US based company.

EDIT : Just checked the WHOIS for the site. It is registered to
UGK
Yevgeny Stalinsky
Hilel yafe 1a
Hadera, 38203
Israel
Phone: +1.4158004132
Fax..:
Email: yevgeny@ultimatumgamekeys.com
so it is an Israeli site, with a San Francisco phone number.

They wouldn't violate it, since they only give you the code to register into Steam. Steam would still know not to allow us to download the game until the proper date. But we'd have the pre-download and the key registered, so I'd feel one step closer :).

I received this when I asked them where my key is, as I haven't received it yet (I am not in the NA region). This is what they said. Pretty difficult to parse:

Hi,

Keys are currently being sent out for Civ V: Brave New World in North America. We did not receive clearance to send these from the publisher before it was opened up for download on Steam. We have to wait for publisher clearance and in this instance we sadly did not hear from them in time. We'd like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by this, and rest assured keys are going out now.

Regards,
Holly

If you are not in NA, then you will not receive the key until the 12th. Confirmed by GMG support staff:

Hi,

When you purchased this game, your IP address was recognised as being in Hong Kong. Because of this you were given a international key, which means you will not get your key until the 12th of July.

Troy

The same non committal n ews regarding the UK/EU release:

Any idea what time you will be sending out the codes for the UK/EU release?

It would be nice to have a chance to preload it and get a game in that night but I won't bother waiting up if there is a high chance it will be delayed like the NA release.

Re: EU release, hopefully before the release date but ultimately it's down to 2K telling us when we're cleared to send them out.

Not an ideal answer for you guys I'm sure (since we already have to wait an extra few days anyway), but there it is.

It's a standarized answer for this issue ;)

In other words, the process goes as follows:
1. Release date/time hits;
2. GMG waits for clearance from 2K;
3. The clearance is received and emails are being sent;
4. Voila.

Several hours of uneasy delay are to be expected :)

Damn it 2k .. just give the clearance for us poor EUers already ..
we promise we don't tell gamespot about it ...
