Has anyone made a mod that takes place in a approximately real-sized battlefield? Basically a Civ 3 turn-based version of a RTS. This picture from a recent post by Ares de Borg, I think, illustrates it perfectly.

Side note: This is the scale that 1UPT is appropriate...Firaxis! :D

Thanks for showing my pic. :) I guess such a scenario wouldn't be too hard to make. Several pre-placed depots (=cities) that are connected via airports (disable roads), no workers or settlers, and you're good to go. Every depot would be sitting on one resource. You could have 2 fighting forces (civs, starting with one base each) and one hostile (AI controlled) with a limited choice of units that you could capture the depots from.

Yes ! Me ! :D
In the moment it`s finished by 70-80 %. :)

It`s a tactical scenario featuring a historical happening of the Vietnam War. It`s called "Soi Cat - A Bench In The Road".
The setup gives the human player 3 US Platoons. They`re placed on three different locations: Platoon A is in the northeast ;Platoon B is southeast ;Platoon C southwest of the map.
Platoon B transports important war documents and runs into a hefty ambush of the VC. The player has only 20 turns to secure the docs.

No improvement or units can be built. No advances to research.
All units on the map has awesome never seen stats (like 8 movement for Infantry ;12 movement for APCs/Tanks). My first betatests have rocked me.

To-Do :
I still need a light artillery for the VC. Something like a M-40 Recoiless Rifle ...
Than my map must be expanded for 100 tiles to the north. Because all Map tweaking tools refuse to work on my machine ,that`s the most heavy issue for me. Any help here ? Anyone ?

The rest is only AI tweaking.

PM me.

Sounds cool, General, just what I was looking for. I'll be glad to check it out when you're finished.

I believe Luddi VII made a D-Day scenario. I was thinking about doing a remake of that, only not showing all of Normandy, but one in the Bocage.

MG's have a bombard range of like 8 spaces, tanks 15, artillery across the map, etc. Custom terrain for like German supply points that spawn infantry, tanks, whatever every x number of turns and vice versa for the Allies.

I also had the idea (now abandoned) of doing a Gangwar scenario that takes place in a city, similar to the scale of EFZI.

Ares de Borg :
Here is the map. :)
Forgive me that it might look to simple for you. But for real I`ve had an awesome amount of work with it. It`s a tile-by-tile conversion. And it`s still unfinished.

You have to know that this is not my very own setup. It`s from a old game for the C-64 called "Vietnam" and released by the old godlike software company SSI (Strategic Simulations Inc).:king: You may know them as THE No1 producer of Strategy game hits for the C-64/AMIGA.

It has caused my a lot of hazzle converting it. Together with the fact that tactical scenarios are still thought by the Civ community as "not able to do". Maybe that means that there is a good chance that my project will fail. But I`m not the right one to just give up. :cowboy:

I'm working on a fantasy scenario in this kind of scale. It's light-years away from completion though. I've often thought a Warhammer 40K battles scenario in this kind of scale would be fun too. Biggest problem I see is that the AI can't work it well. It will stack all it's units, can't bombard well with artillery etc. But if the scenario is designed only for humans then I think it can work.
