Nope - Perot's base was a mix of those who would have voted Bush or Dole, those who would have voted Clinton (me in '92), and those who would not have otherwise voted. Clinton would still have easily won.

After 2004 there was talk about the demise of the Democratic Party. That it was washed up and might as well chuck in the towel. It obviously did not happen. Neither of the two major parties are going anywhere.

This. I guess to me It feels like a lot o the stuff I'm seeing is just people taking articles from 2008 and just replacing a few names.
