[GS] GS impressions/random observations thread.

Huh. I never send delegations. It"s pretty rare (as in 1 in 12 or 1 in 15), as it doesn't happen every game.

Though admittedly France auto-subs their espionage fetish and places like Norway rail about not having boats when landlocked or others hit on the lack of holy sites, but if no delegations is the trigger, I should see it a LOT more than I do.
You really should send them. It’s +1 level of diplomatic visibility, which is +3 combat strength against that civ (+6 if Mongolia). All while being considered as a positive diplo modifier.

First game: emperor, continents, large, amazing early Maori settle next to Torres del Paine and 2 first-met city states. Space for 4 decent cities on an island landmass. Very close by is a major continent with Brazil and Scotland both having coastal capitals. 4 warriors and 2 quadriremes dismember both empires very early and brutally.

Only issue is that Brazil survived with some inland cities and my grievances with everyone are VERY bad. Irreparably so... from classical conquest.... So I guess its gonna be a domination game then...

Number of natural disasters is pretty variable even on setting 2.
As the Maori didn't get any that affected me in 3 ages although Buda was getting hit by everything.
As the Inca got a drought and a volcanic eruption in the ancient era, and a volcanic eruption (same volcano) and a flood in the classical era.
Hopefully it evens out over the game.

I like the idea of natural disasters being variable in frequency. They shouldn't be predictable, really.

sadly delegations get thrown at during war... so no.

So new abuse is lib & flip.
I liberate a macedonian city back to them for 300 diplomacy points, it flips to Elanor and I liberate it again.

Now this is odd... if the result is a draw, everyone who voted for it culture bombs?... another bug?

I haven't started playing yet and I'm on break, so I'm just browsing through this thread. And I see this.

I am confusion. How did Kupe became the rewarded target of a resolution when the rest of those who chose A chose for themselves?

The WC resolution to stop earning Great People points of a specific type works on Great Prophets if not all have been earned.

I'm sorry, but we have quite enough religions in the world already, thank you. Perhaps you'd like to consider a career in writing instead, Mr. Hubbard?

Are there any changes to the city "reports" screen? That is one of my biggest pet peeves of the game.

Every WC vote has two parts.

First count all the votes for A and all the votes for B. Throw out the votes for the losing side. Not sure what happens if there's a tie at this level, possibly it's a push and nothing more happens?

Second step, look at the sub-votes for just the winning side. In this case, 5 leaders received 1 vote each. Resolve tie based on the following percentage: favours spent on the vote / total diplomatic favour.

In this case, all three civs spent 0 favour on the votes (they all cast just their free vote). I don't think we know how this tie was broken. Possibly it's random, possibly it's in civ order (therefore human always wins), possibly it's whoever has the most favour (Kupe, in this case).

WC is just so broken, a Dom plAyer prefers having it to not having it.
I,m racking up many hundreds of points now, is such cases WC should be abandoned
Emergencies give me hundreds of votes
Liberations give me hundreds
There is just no point in playing peaceful

circumnavigate 2500BC.png

well i just circumnavigated in 2520 BC... that seems legit

There is just no point in playing peaceful

It's brand consistent.

That said, check out other reports on how easy it is to rack up the diplomatic favours playing peacefully with lots of alliances.

Seems pretty intuitive to me, at least from the perspective of non-Angevins and city habitants.
It makes sense per se, but when it clearly becomes a milking machine, someone should say “hey guys, I think they’re just gaming the system instead of actually caring about us...”

reports have moved to the top right, old reports have not changed but the global resoiurce report is nice

but when it clearly becomes a milking machine,
When Macedon came back they slotted a good governor so iot was not so easy to flip quick, so not really a fast milker

On Pillaging
Why would you not pillage buildings at T100 when you get this value out of them?

This is a deity game, I have no idea what happens but each game the AI is just not as strong by T100.
I have not bothered with boast this game but this is just so tempting

Easy solution to liberating cities is that they become outright immune to pressure from you.
The pressure was not from me, from England.

The game is pointless now... I just completed diplomatic service purely by looting
