Guess the scenarios

NOTE : THE POLL ACCEPTS MULTIPLE CHOICES (many scenarios in Conquests) BUT PLEASE CHECK A MAXIMUM OF 3 SCENARIOS.


Since Conquests will be centered on scenarios, we might guess them and/or vote for the ones we would like to show Firaxis which ones are the most important to us.

So here is a poll gathering a bunch of possible situations for scenarios.
These are often build around a conflict but they can be linked as well to a special area (both culturally and geographically) whose unity allows sharing the same units for instance (ex feudal Japan).
You have multiple choices (after all there should 8 or 9 scenarios if my memory is correct).
If the scenario you want is not there, you should find a framework. Ex: Korean war would be Cold War.
Carolingian Empire would be Dark Ages even if I have chosen British Isles as the example).


According to the Conquests infos and the PTW extras (I cannot make myself believe they would have been included otherwise), we would have :

- WWII (Europe, Asia or both)
- Feudal Japan
- American Conquest
- Birth of civilization (Middle East)
- Lost World (fantasy using the dinosaurs)

Apart from those some important eras/ wars are likely to be included too:

- Rome
- Muslim conquests
- Crusades
- Mongols (or maybe later the Mandchus)
- XVII-XVIIIth century Europe (with Ottomans)
- US independance
- Napoleonic
- WWI

And remember if there are new units they will be related to these scenarios !

I would like to see three kingdoms and a ww1 scenario, or at least a mod pack for them.

I pretty much agree with your predictions, LouLong. As for what I'd like:

WWII
WWI
American Independance
feudal Japan
Alexander campaigns
the Crusades
African (maybe with a mix of Ghana, Mali, Songhai, Ethiopia, Axum, Egypt, Nubia, and some others, even though they didn't all exist at once)

And maybe a fantasy mod (but I didn't vote for it, although I guess I should have). It'd depend on what it's like. Any others would be good too.

XIXth colonization : scenarios about colonization by Europe of large parts of the world in the Middle East, the rest of Asia or Africa. Krimean war, Boer war or India Sikh revolts could be part of that. It normally excludes South America whose countries became independant during that century.

American Conquest : North and/or South (more likely to be South/central, probably without Western US because of the civs chosen (Mayas and Incas). Iroquois could be put in the north of the Mexico gulf to represent North AMerican indians. But exotic birds definitely refer to central/south America.

Ancient Near East. I'd really want to see a scenario about that, and with Sumerians and Hettites, it seems inevitable.

Roman Empire. Everybody loves Rome, and there was one in vanilla Civ II. Surely Conquests cannot be outdone by that?

Renaissance Italy. Oddball choice, perhaps, but I think it could be cool. Especially if they can implement condottieri in some sensible fashion - in this setting, you really ought to be able to buy your opponents' troops!

There's, of course, plenty of other cool possibilities. Say a Near Future/WWIII scenario, or Peloponnesian War. Or something contrafactual - Asian colonization of the Americas, say.

What ever scenarios they are going to put into the add on I think it will be pretty exiting to play as each one will (hopefully) have UU's andmaybe even a few new wonders and buildings as well.

WW1 & napolean were my 2 favorite in civ2 (although the tolkien Dagor was nearly as good)

WW1 combat is my favorite in civ3, so I hope that it is a scenario

I really like this thread because it evolves so much. At the beginning, Crusades started as the big winner with WWII now it is the Romans.

It is probably too late for most but I wonder if Firaxis will take a look at this thread for market infos ?

Considering Sid's long time interest in the American Civil War (my wife isn't around, so I don't have to call it the War of Northern Agression), I think it is highly likely we will be playing Yankees versus Rebels as one of the scenarios. And he can bring in the French (Napoleon the lesser) and English (Queen Victoria) as "what ifs" intervening on the Confederate side. The South was sure cutting off cotton to the mills of Europe and England would bring them in on their side.

And the French allow the Mexicans (Maximilian and his opponents). Throw in some Native Americans (Sioux, Apache, as many as you want "Indians", and you caould have a real nice little barn burner.

And they don't even have to change the leader head for the Union.

In a recent PC Gamer Issue (the one with E3), it had a few sentences about Conquests. It said it would feature eight of the world's greatest conquest, and some scenarios would be WW2 and Feudal Japan.
