With a name like Conquests, I have to assume we are going to finally see strong playable scenarios... and I think my predictions that didn't come true for PTW will come true:

1) A conquest of the new world scenario that introduces The Inca, The Dutch, The Polynesians and the Portuguese.

2) An Alexander the Great or Roman aged scenario or scenarios that introduces the Nubians, the Hebrews, and the Hungarians (as the Huns).

3) A war of the worlds scenario that introduces a green skinned Martian civ.

The roundup again:
Inca
Dutch
Polynesians
Portuguese
Nubians
Hebrews
Hungarians
Martians

The Dutch and Portuguese, beyond doubt, the Koreans and Inca, could well be. Ethiopeans and Nubians, Hun(garian) and Ukrainian - that 's my guess.

I think they stayed away from the Hebrew because of possible misunderstandings, tensions etc. Being a NY based company, they normally would 've included them long time ago.

And who knows the Swiss? Remember that famous line from the 1949 film The Third Man, in which Orson Welles sais something like: "In Italy they had five hundred years of war, but they created banking, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switserland they had a millenium of peace, and what did that produce? The ****oo clock."
OTOH, Thomas More wrote in Utopia (ye, the book from 1516) about the Swiss (there called the Zapolets) as "a rude, wild, and fierce nation. ... for the greatest part they live either by
hunting, or upon rapine; and are made, as it were, only for war.
They watch all opportunities of engaging in it, and very readily
embrace such as are offered them." (for more, see for example www.d-holliday.com/tmore/utopia009.htm)
It is historically true that many Swiss have served in foreign armies, and while they may have a problem building ships, their air force seems pretty much uptodate.

Incans and Mayans. South America on world maps have been bare for way too long.

Another African civ and a polynesian civ would also be great for world maps. Europe is too crowded, don't need anymore for world maps, but it wouldn't surprise me if there was at least 1 or 2 more European civs added.

Inca
Maya
Ethiopia (or some African civ)
Polynesia
Dutch
Portugal

Hmm, I need 2 more.....
Australia and
Canada ;)

According to my poll on the topic, the new civs should be:

The Inca..............143 voters................12.99%
The Jews (Israel)...... 88.................7.99%
The Maya...................88..................7.99%
The Portuguese..........83 votes.........7.54%
The Netherlands.........77 votes.........6.99%
The Polynesians......... 65..................5.90%
The Scots....................59...................5.36%
Nubia/ other Black African Civ......59 votes........5.36%

Pretty whopping lead for the Inca.

Last time round, I think 5 of the 8 civs were in my poll (the last poll). So, draw your own conclusions. ;)

I think that they should also think about the Aborigines as a possibilty, so that we can fill Australia in the world map.

Last time round, they surprised everyone by going for the Koreans, instead of the Inca for commercial reasons.
Does anyone know what the biggest civ national market, not already represented by a civ, are?

Australia's quite big, so they might have them instead of the Aborigines.

I would personally like to see the Goths and the Aborigines as civs, but I realize that they aren't very popular. So, I'd be content with the Scots.

[PS, part of this has already been posted on the news thread, but I felt it'd be useful to repeat it here. :)]

The Inca indeed came very close to being a civ in civ 3.

Of course, you can't underestimate the surprise factor. Siamese? I wouldn't put it past them. Confederacy as led by Robert E. Lee?

If it was for me to decide then these would be the ones included:

Portuguese
Dutch
Poles (Polish?)
Incas
Mayans
Austrians or Hungarians
And two African civs: Ethiopia, Numidia, Ashanti, Songhay, Mali, Ghana, Axum, Kush... take your picks! ;)

Another Native American tribe would work as well.

Or maybe a South East Asian one...

Heh that wasn't so easy... :crazyeye:

I'm hoping for these new civs:

Dutch
Portuguese
Incas
Mayans
Aboriginees
Polynesians
Nubians
Jews (hebrews)

Thailand or Laos
Australia
Canada
Mali or Ethiopia
Polynesia or Maori
Dutch
Incas
Scotland

Australia would have to be the modern civ. The Aborigines are an old civ but they are nomads and were still in the dreamtime when the English started colonising. They were conquered way to easy to be a civ. On the other hand the Maori's whooped some English butt and got a much better treaty and are still a political power in NZ today.

Wow, it is long since I've been posting on the forum.

How about the eastern-Hungarian empire, which was crushed in WW I.

I think most possible Civs are already metioned above. I wouldn't know any other civs that had a big influence. I do hope the Dutch are in, so I could play my nationalistic treacherous backstabbing economy/trade techniques. Mwoaahhhaa....

How about posting your idea's about what kind of civspecific abilyties they have, like economic, religeous and civ specific unit?

Inca commercial and militaristic
special unit: mountain warrior
Dutch commercial and scientific
special unit: pirate ship
Portuguese: expansionist and commercial
special unit: Man O War
Nubians militaristic and religious
special unit: spear artillery
Polynesians: expansionist and religious.
special unit: canoe
Hebrews: religious and commercial
special unit: Merkavah
Hungarians: expansionist and militaristic
special unit: vampire
Thai: industrious and religious
special unit: ninja monk dude
Martians: expansionist and scientific
special unit: UFO

I'd say that the two civs that first made trades with Japan, the Dutch and the Portugese, are a must in the expansion.

I'd really like to see these:

-The Portugese (they discovered the trade route to the east!!)
-The Dutch (important trade country as from the 17th century)
-Incas (Go to Peru and you know why)
-Polynesia (spreaded over a big part of the Pacific)
-Ethiopia (almost always been an independant state in Africa)
-The Jews (they were at the basis of three world religions)

I like the idea for a pirate ship for the Dutch, somekind of upgrade for the ship that has no nationality (forgotten the name).
I would say the Dutch are commercial and religeous (in the past), after all the English have this phrase: Every Dutchman's a church.
However, the Dutch are now the most Liberal and progessive country there is!!

The scots: militaristic and ?, scottish highlander for SU.

Id like to see...

The Dutch
The Incas
The Mayans
An African civ(i dont know enough about any of them)
An eastern european civ(like poland)
The Polynesians

I couldnt really name 2 others, but i dont think Scotland should get their own wee civ cause the Celts are already there. If they were to be there though, they should be Scientific Industrious :) not militaristic :p And i dont really know about the UU

I'd like to see a galleon with a higher movement rate and more units to transport. Plus I say they're expansionist (discovered a big part of the world, had colonies over the world)/commercial (money making wa the drive up the Dutch), but there's another topic for this...

Assuming both the Dutch and the Portuguese make it into the expansion and both have ship UU's, Firaxis better do something about the way the naval system works. I don't want us Dutchies to be stuck with a crappy UU like the Man-O-War and the expanded galleon will be really tricky to get a GA with.
Maybe we can get a Gueux unit with amphibious assault ? Otherwise, a 'British Mercenary' like the ones that provided a good part of the land army during the 18th century, or like the English troops that were sent to (rather unsuccesfully) help us during the Eighty Years' War. Most likely they will give us a caravel with 1 extra attack and/or movement though.

I'll guess

Inca (Fans want it)
Maya (I think I remember them saying they wanted to include it, but were limited to 8 PTW civs)
Dutch or Portugeese (they are too similar, and in a crowded region)
Assyria
Israel
Byzantine
2 more :p
