I have loved this band for years! Ever since i found my sisters old vinyl records from the 80's. They are just great, I love all their songs and Appetite For Destruction one of the best albums of all time.

Aside from a slight bit of diva-ness in the later years I have nothing but praise for Axl, Slash and the guys! But yet i see people here who don't like them! Is it just different tastes in music or did hey do something to offend you?

VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

Very good band. I have the two illusion albums and Sweet Child o' Mine is on of the best songs ever.

YAY! Good man! We Irish obviously have great taste in music ;)

I read in another thread that their covers of the Beatles songs are the best. I must admit, I did like their cover of that Sheryl Crow song...

;)

I love them, but right now they can kiss my bum due to their obvious wish to piss fans off, they've been cancelling way to many concerts lately for no reason.....and i hope their new album 'Chinese Democracy' will come out soon.
Sweet Child o Mine, November Rain, Welcome to the Jungle, Its to easy, those are some of my favs :goodjob:

They're fairly good.

Bad.

One of my favorites, although I've only started listening to them quite lately.

Appetite for Destruction was a great, classic album, although their subsequent releases have been patchy at best. Gotta say I'd be interested to hear what they sound like now with Buckethead on guitar, though! :crazyeye:

Musically, they are a fine rock band. Their attitude/image is dumb though. I despise that cartoon "guns and roses was here" with that raped woman.

I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but "Sweet Child O' Mine" was written by GNR and covered by Sheryl Crow, not the other way around.

They are alright. Nothing great, but nothing bad, and quite passable.

My vote - Hate them!

You clearly enjoy their music (good for you), but what do you care what other people think?

It's music you like and enjoy - so why should it matter to you that, others don't like them. I no doubt listen to music you and others wont like. But I listen to it for my enjoyment and no-one elses.

Or maybe your just trying to draw out the anti-GN'R fans onto the field of your choosing, to do battle with, hey?;)

As for the diva aspect, they aren't the only band guilty of that. So thats no big reason to indict them. Dave Mustaine from Megadeth was quite the Diva in his nose candy years. But Tom Araya crushed him back into place. :D

But I remember well the GN'R rise in the 80's, thats where alot of the dis-like and emnity stems from.

The True Metal Warrior Argument {Joey would be proud}

Back in the days of the big four Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth and Metallica and sadly there was also GN'R. Alot of the metal warriors
saw GN'R as an insult to the cause of metal. Since alot of GN'R fans, I had to put up with back then considered GN'R metal and the real warriors of metal took offense to that. I don't know or remember if GN'R the band ever came out and claimed they were metal (I don't think they ever did).

So all of sudden - if you were a GN'R fan - you became a posuer. As you weren't seen as being into real metal.

The band themselves were seen as posuers Axl with hair spray and eye shadow. A Terrible sight that, which just encouraged the metal fans to 'trash' the band and their fandom.

Because back then real metal acts didn't use hair spray or wear make up. Although it is a deep dark secret - that Slayer started out as a glam metal act, but we never speak of it! ;)

The other side of it is - Local Radio really killed of some of their songs. It's not the first band they done that too. With the standard formula of we just give our listeners what they want to hear. And they just repeat the same popular songs over and over again.

Patience - was actually a good song till the radio played it that damn much you wanted to break the radio in two.

Just as the radio stations did the same with One - Metallica - another good song, yet radio overplay completely killed it.

They are ok. I have both the Illusion CDs and Appetite for Destruction, but haven't listened to them for a long time.

Actually, if you compare them to what they are trying to sell as heavy these days (Limp Bizkit et al), they're pretty good. :ack:

appetite for destruction was probably one of the best albums of all time. it doesn't get more consistant with good songs then that. if you ask me, the only true solid album since appetite for destruction has been linkin parks' hybrid theory.

in 20 years the "oldies" stations won't be playing the bands we thought were groundbreaking like nirvana or metallica, but it'll mostly be guns n roses and pearl jam because of their ability to mesh into other forms of music.

guns n roses may not be great now or near the end of the REAL band, but their song writing abilities and talent on stage and recording is unmeasurable.

GN'R wasn't metal. they were a cross between a hair band, metal, and plain old rock. there's nothing wrong with that.
