Has anyone noticed that it seems as though they are going to release the game half done. I mean they only did two leaders for what 10 out 18 civs or something. Did anyone actually believe Soren's excuse on the E3 preview that finding leaders for som civs was harder. Honestly I could grab a book on practically any of the Civs and have a list of most of the leaders. I think there setting it up so we have to buy an expansion to get the other leaders and more civs with only one leader so you have to buy another expansion to get those leaders. :(

Exactly. Which is why, for example, I'm waiting until they package at least one expansion pack with the game before I buy it. This game looks not nearly worth the money until they add what they will inevitably add in the expansions.

It doesn't bother me that there won't be 2 leaders for each civ. As long as they don't skip out on gameplay, i'll be happy.

hmm... it's would be hard to come up with "famous" leaders for all civs, especially those which basically had 1 strong leader and the rest coasting along.

btw, is it confirmed that there will only be 10 civs with 2 leaders? it does bother me a bit, but only because it seems uneven. Hopefully they can come up with 2 leaders each.

I think there are 18 civs and 26 leaders. I agree they could do better, I mean even an ameturish historian could come up with 2 good leaders for these civs.

That's it. I have decided that if they cannot find two leaders for Spain, I won't buy the game. And probably not the expansions either.

Sorry, I was angry because I remembered that they didn't include Spain in the CIV III Vanilla version and I am afraid that they are going to provide only one leader for Spain in the new CIV IV.

So, I'll buy the game, anyway. I was just pushing them :mischief:

Hey, Warpstorm, I have read that you live close to the Firaxis headquarters. (In one of your posts, If I remember correctly).

Could you do me a favor? Could you leave a present in Sid Meier bed? Let's say, a bleeding horse head, with a note that says. Add two leaders for each civ or else?

hahahaha,,,, just kidding.

Is civ 4 worth buying??
They have given, it seems, all their effort in graphix - which don't really matter in civ. AI sounds to be as lame as ever!! Probably - moddablity is something good about thegame. The game won't be playable unless modded. We'll have to do their work.

Or, they can delay their release but must come out with a decent package. Civ 2 AI with a decent 2D graphix and some added features would be good.

Perhaps... But as has been pointed out by some, it is much better marketing to say, "Look at the pretty graphics" that, "Look. we finally made the AI smart (ish)" That dosen't mean, though, that they haven't done it, it just means they don't want to advertise that previous versions had bad AI.
If anything, I bet Sid Meier and his lot spend their days and nights working feverishly... After all, if this thing were a flop Firaxis would probably go under (Or come close to it) like 3DO...

I agree. they seem to have gone all out on the graphics, which really is a non-event for the civ community, and they've probably locked out everyone who plays civ on a laptop computer, which i suspect is a substantial number. The new features taht seem promising are substantial moddability (where have I heard that before?), civics (give us some details eh?) and religion (which seems to be a generic sanitised model).

I'll be willing to bet that:

civ4 will ship with an absurdly small number of units. This will be done so that they can add many more in later and get you to buy expansions.

Modding capability will be limited in the initial release. This will be added to later - in the expansions. How much you wanna bet the much vaunted SDK will not ship until 2 years after release, and with the final expansion? Maybe you'll even have to pay for it.

Also, I just wonder how many patches are going to be released for this game?

Wow, Architect, can I borrow your time machine please? After all with this rant about a game that is not even in Beta yet you must have got a copy from the future :mischief:

From my part, I want this game now :) .

As to the leaders, Colonel, there could be another reason why they are doing 24 leaders. In any case, it dosen't matter what they do, there will always be people who complain about it.

That would make local news.... nah, I don't think anyone living on the north side of Baltimore (or anywhere in Baltimore) would do that. ;)
