Hi there!

there is something very annoying:
spies allways sabotage my improvments and by that avoiding me to produce some units (they destroy my alominium mine and my oil well and some non important improvements...).

my question is, how can I avoid them to do this?
how can i catch them?

thanks!

The simple way is simply to have your civilization accumulate more spy points with research/culture/espionage sliders on the main screen than your opponents do. This will make any of their spy missions against you more expensive than the default cost, hopefully by enough to stop them doing any.

Failing that, build things such as jails, castles and intelligence bureau's, or have spy specialists. These buildings and specialists contribute espionage points in the same way as the slider I mentioned. Also, the Security Bureau building has a counter-intelligence trait that, at least on my games, seems to increase the chance of enemy spies being caught before they can do any of their James Bond-esque dirty work.

Failing any of that, just declare war on the perpetrators and make sure thay have no cities in which to recruit spies in the first place!:nuke:

(I'm not sure if this is a Civ 4 or Civ 3 trait, but I seem to remember something about friendly units in a square making it more difficult for an enemy spy to perform a task in that same square. Anyone know if I'm remembering right?)
