Hands-on with the Nintendo DS

A Starcraft DS would be even more awesome, as the stylus can subsitute for the mouse. :)

Too bad blizzard's gone to hell recently so it's doubtful that will ever happen. Probably around the same time EA makes the REAL Goldeneye for the DS, not the crappy rogue agent.

So... what about Super Smash Bros DS? It was awesome on N64. Awesome on GameCube. Would be awesome on DS too. Only reason it's not on advance is because the graphics arent's good enough.

From what I can tell, media and more casual gamers prefer PSP, while developers and more serious gamers (ie GameFAQs) prefer the DS. Although I'm not entirely sure what the PSP has going for it, so far it feels like the PSP is exactly what it's name suggests, a portable PS2, that plays UMD's instead of DVD's and has a limited battery life.
That's good enough for me; I want to play PS2seque games.

Time for more random DS news, as the launch draws ever closer.

First off, Gamestop and EBGames have already stopped accepting preorders for the DS, due to shortages (only 1 million were shipped to the US). Ironically, my friend preordered one from Gamestop a few days before they stopped accepting, and I preordered mine from EBGames the day before they stopped taking preorders. :p

In more random news, Microsoft is giving the DS the edge in the soon to come battle between the DS and the PSP, but that was to be expected considering how Microsoft really wants to buy Nintendo and destroy Sony.

In light of everyone complaining the lack of analogue control (considering the big launch title Mario 64 DS is a remake of the game that defined the analogue control stick way back when), the DS's wrist strap can also be put on the thumb, to sort of use the thumb as the joystick on the touchscreen. It will still be pretty clunky I bet, but it seems to be a lot less awkward than using the stylus for Metroid Prime Hunters, where you can use that thumb-stick-thingy on the touchscreen the same way you would use a mouse in a PC FPS.

Pictochat also looks to be fun, espcially:

PictoChat is a blast. Perrin Kaplan said they are counting the days until it is banned in schools, and after messing around with it in a room full of systems, it’s easy to believe her.

But since there don't seem to be that many video game freaks at my school, that shouldn't be too much of a problem for me. :p
