Hanging Gardens really hang up

Installed and starts fine. When I get to the hanging gardens section, my computer freezes, part of the screen goes black, then my computer starts to make a grinding noise, everything goes black, and then I'm thrown out and am back on the desktop.
Never could make Civ. II work either. Suggestions?

Not the ideal solution, but you could look in the _Civ4Config file and turn-off wonder movies (I think there is a line like
DisableWonderMovies=0
- change it to '1').
