Hardest difficulty you have beaten the game on!

Just won on Emperor using a Roman/Praetorian rush on a tiny map. This was quite a bit easier than I expected, and netted me a score of 48K or so (Augustus Caesar rating) when I won around 900AD.

No big deal finished the game vs 3 diety. Played a few hours on noble, to easy, switched to diety, then after 3 games on diety i won on domination. Had to load a few times but not to many. Check the save game just click end turn and u will see. Questions can allways be sended to my email, hope you enjoy the savegame!

No cheap rush tricks, played out at year 2272, pure skill

Dude, sorry, but how can you say you "owned" Deity when you clearly cheated by reloading? You MUST have had some of the victory conditions turned off, too, because the game went to year 2272!

"Pure skill"? Hardly! That's not even a win in my book!

EDIT: Not meant as a flame!

Emperor, domination, Small pangea, Epic as Hatty. I won thanks to War Chariot early in the game, Cesar close to me and not having Iron and Kankan Mussa who was leading in science (I saw his Riflmen when I just git Muskets) and culture trough the all game, but never attacked me (I converted to his religion).
Now playing Deity (same size, Iceage) as Cesar, and leading the game, he he !

I've won two games so far. Once on Noble, once on Warlord. Hey, I've only had the game for five days. ;)

I am now around 1950 on Monarch, Large map. In the lead in every category except for technology, as I cannot seem to keep up! Heck, the Chinese, who only have three cities, are beating me in tech, though the have FAR less than me in every other category. I just finished Scientific Theory, and my chief opponent (Germany) just built his first Space Component! (so I'm going to lose on space race...again)

Anyone have any better luck on the larger maps...and if so, any pointers?

I can win at Warlord very easily - specially if I play Elizabeth. Redcoats come along at just the right time for me, and I can win at any victory condition.
Tried Noble several time with disastrous results including an endless stream of barbarian attacks even after clearing all fog. I have to stop the culture race and go all military. Competitors not similarly hindered zoom ahead.
Last time I survived til Steam Power revealed NO Coal on the Continent and Iron working had No Iron on the Continent.
Just seems like Noble is a big jump from Warlord, from easy to impossible???

Actually, Noble is even- it's the first level where you don't have an intrinsic advantage over the AI...anything above Noble is impossible, to me, but that's why I am here- to learn how to get better!

I got my ass kicked by Egypt on my first/only noble game.

just won an easy victory on warlord (only had the game 3 days!) struggling with higher difficulty levels though...

AI cheats terrible. They trade with each other and U can't.
So, want to cheat? U can have tanks after about 4 cities! U can add anything
with world builder < CNTRL W >. U may have to save and reload a couple of times. Found this out accidentally, and it works every time.

What do you mean that you can't trade techs with others? I do it all the time.

What you may be talking about is that if you try to be friends with everyone, no one will like you enough to trade techs with you.

What you need to do in this game that is different from prior Civ games is choose a faction early and then stick to it.

I choose early in the game a couple of Civs that I will be friends with, and send missionaries there to give them my religion. Then, I send a couple more Civs missionaries from a different religion I've invented to set up religion in second group of Civs to create tension between the two groups. The ones that share my religion are my allies through the whole game, and the other factions are my punching bags, Civs that my civ slowly swallows on its rise to greatness.

Why would you want to cheat? Of course you can use the worldbuilder; that's been true in every Civ game since CivII. But the win doesn't count if you use worldbuilder.

So far, Warlord but I've practically won the Noble game I'm playing at the moment. I have 4 of the top 5 cities, I'm trying to get all the top 5:)

Hey guys. I worked my way up to the Diety level. I beat it once on Diety by conquest in 12 hrs 15 minutes. The next time that I beat it I beat it in 6 hrs 50 minutes!! It's really not as bad as I thought it would be. I played as India and made sure that I was the first to construct Stonehenge, Oracle, and get Alphabet and trade up to par with everyone but not Alphabet til someone else has it. Build the Great Library for SURE. Then research to Liberalism get Astronomy and then upgrade City Raiders to Grenadeirs. By this time your culture has pushed the borders of your neighbor back to the limit. I play Duel size with 12 opponents. Funnest game ever. Anyhow. After grenadeirs research to get cannons, infantry, ARTILLERY, and frigates. Trade technologies sparingly and you'll stay on top. and that my friends is how you beat the crap out of Diety!. I beat it by 1930. I included the saved game file. elliottsdragon123@yahoo.com

in my opinion any of the high level games, emperor/immortal/deity.. if you don't play via standard rules you are 'cheesing' the game. The whole point of Deity is to make it extreamely difficult nigh impossible for you to win. It's for the hardcore 1-3% of people who play the game. Playing it on a super small map with loads of civ's reduces the AI's advantage over you by being able to expand at double your rate (you are supposed to be behind) When you play like this you'll end up with 2-3 cities and they will only have 1 or 2 more than you. Sure they still produce hammers and science faster than you but that's not the point. At Deity it's supposed to pit your management skills and smarts to the test not reduce the AI to something you can handle.

Hey snakie. I definately consider myself to be in the top 3% NAY the top 1% of civ gamers. In my game I just have one city. The computer spreads so fast you don't have a chance to make a 2nd city hardly ever! Why don't I just play the game on HUGE!!! and waste Like 100 hours trying to beat the odds? So snake crap next time you try smack talking me why don't you annie up to the table and show what skill you have?! I don't see anyone else posting diety victories. It's all about strategy my friend and that is what I possess.

Standard settings, random civs (I got the Incas) on noble. First full game after fannying around with the Tutorial and the lower levels to get the hang of things.

Won by space race in 1991 (just - Ghandi shocked me by completing Apollo just as I was starting to build it. Lots of spies and sabotage of his aluminium kept him in check). 6000-odd points and a leader rating half way up the Dan Quayle table.

Really enjoying this version of Civ. I just wish for a few more naval units (ship of the line, cruiser, AEGIS cruiser anyone?) and a few more air units (tac bombers, naval bombers, paras?).

I have won on more times on noble prince and monarch now.
Noble biggest score was 21250
Prince biggest score was 8152
Monarch biggest score was 10380

I have won domination, cultural, and space race (who hasnt ;) ) But didnt manage diplomatic yet. Because I still fail to really connect with those inferior foreign states ;)

All games where standard play game and not those duel map thingies ;).

The last one I played with the biggest score I ve got so far was my first custom game with 12 opponents. And was very fun to play. First eliminated the Russian who lived far to near. Russians need to much living space so I made it certain they would not bother me. After that I still got a really nice army so I went on a rampage tour on my contintent to make sure my opponents on that continent would have a certain disadvantage. So I took one city of the chinese and one of the greeks. And after I sacked two of their cities. I never occupied them because else my cost of ownership for those towns cost me to much. From their it put me on a frontrunners position on my continent. The chinese and greek couldnt harm me again. When I got a real tech lead and financial was everything going very well. I finished the Greek and Chinese existence on my continent. After that it was real easy. I got still the tech lead and waited till I got the tank, bombers and the transport and I conquered the German and the Mongols. And there was my domination victory.

Play on
