Harry Potter

No more Harry Potter please!
I was forced to go and see the second film although i did walk out halfway through :). But before that i was shocked at it. It was so predictable and boring and not funny at all.

What happened? At a b-day party or something?

ohhh no worse an ex g/f wanted to see me and payed for me to see it but i still walked out now if she was my g/f i might of stayed doubtful though

Harry Potter is very very evil, so I avoid all that fatuous nonsense.

And J.K. Rowling is obviously a fat capitalist..uh oh..ve don't like dat! :nono: :D

whats wrong with you people.
its almost imposlible to write a book about magic without seeming to rip off one thing or another. could you write a magic book that did not contain any of the races that LOTR has? hell no.
the general public have a predetermined opinion of the magic world (or those who think about it do). it has to have elves, it has to have trolls, it has to have a realy evil superpowered bad guy, and so forth.
the books are good no matter what you say.
the merchendizing is a bit evil, but what can you expect from a person with JKR's backround. to go from wellfare to being offered millions for putting the face of a person you immagined on a coke bottle, i dont think ANY of you would have had the stomach to refuse. i know i wouldnt be able to say no. she will probably regret it some time later, when she's used to the money, but Harry is screwed for ever.

the movies definetly do not live up to the books, and anyone who judges the books by the movies is a lazy moron.
as far as the length of the books, well ye, its getting longer and longer, but i dont see that as a bad thing.

so what if its a kids book, its devided into chapters, just immagine that every chapter is a book and it will be like a whole lot of small books.
but atleast it makes it worthwile to reread at some point (i reread the whole series before picking up the 'new' book) because there is much that you didnt notice the first time around.

the only think i dislike is that its so dam long between the books, before teh movies started she was doing more then 1 book in a year (not quite 2 a year but close to it) now its like 2 years for every book. teh wait is annoying and the movies only remind you that the book is not even being printed yet.

Nix, my dear boy, you seem to be having trouble with repeating the party line again...:nono: :spank: Does one have to raise your medication, and split you away from another loved one?:mwaha:

I love the harry potter books.
And I don't mind Rowling merchandizing it, coz I've never bought any such thing. It's really quite easy: If you don't like the merchandize, don't buy it, if you don't like the movies, don't watch them and if you really despise the books, well, don't read them. Quite easy.

Also, I saw someone complaining that book 7 would be around 2000 pages. WOW, I'd wish! That would be the coolest.

Rowling is in fact almost as brilliant as Robert Jordan.

You guys really have nothing to complain about. You should try Holland. We have a Harry Potter lookalike as prime-minister...:crazyeye: It can't get much worse than that. He's on almost every news broadcast.....

I also don't really see, why someone would complain about the length of a good book. If it keeps good all the time there's nothing wrong with having 1000 pages. If you don't like a book, you should notice after about 200 pages anyhow. (That's as far as I got with David Copperfield.)

Do you think, that less people will read the books, after all films are out? (Same question for LOTR.) If you see one of the films on TV or in cinema, the book will not be as suspenseful.

My goodness, Mr Nixon!
You do appear to be turning Russian!

Please report to your local Evil Dictator office for immediate re-capitalisation!

We can't afford to lose you to the red menace!

I would prefer a Saruman lookalike as the UK's Prime Minister!

My kids are 9 and 7 (twins) - they have all read all four HP books and love them to death. We also have Harry Potter lego by the sackful, a trivia game and a Chamber of Secrets challenge - they enjoy every bit.

There is some merchandising crap, but we just ignore it and don't buy it - it's not that hard.

As for the films, be nice, as an acquaintance of mine does the special effects! He did say that the Quidditch matches are dead boring to create.

HP is up there with other 'great' kids' literature - The Silver Sword, Eagle of the Ninth, Tom's Midnight Garden, Alice in Wonderland, etc. - because it has the great combination of being a good story and well-written. It covers real problems they relate to like bullying, the pressure of homework, etc. I have no problem at all with my kids reading it.

Of course, I guess they could just watch cartoons instead....

Well, this is good news. My girlfriend bugs me about every month with "do you know when the new Harry Potter book is coming out?" If I didn't like reading them as much, I'd be annoyed.

And for all you parents/uncles/aunts out there complaining about your kids and HP (Zarn!), I have four words for you: It's Better Than Barney.

Personally, I'm glad she's not only writing for kids. In fact, there was quite a bit in books 3 & 4 which I thought were more teenage material than kid stuff. And the length of the books does not matter. If you enjoy the book (and most people do), you won't put it down.

The new book's coming out it June.

They may originally been for the kids', but they're turning into really serious issues - straying away from the kids' mind frameset. That's what I think.

Maybe she's writing them to parallel a kid growing up, having to deal with more serious issues as they grow older.

Or maybe she's just in it for the jack. Who cares, it's just entertainment. ;)

I've never read the books (thanks God)
and fortunately I didnt see the movies (well, 30 minutes of the first one before I fall sleep)
my point is, what a boring movie, it never had a climax, the characters were flat and the story senseless.
besides, what a stupid way of playing chess, lookks like the author never played it before.

my reaction when i saw it (like the smilies evolution)
:( :vomit:
