You people aren't thinking. Helicopters are the most undervalued unit in the game. Take a look at the pros:
Helicopter:
-Can rebase to
ANY city on the map
-Can hold 3 non-mech units
So you can rebase 3 units in any city on the map in one turn, best choices are 3 infantry and 3 TOWs to defend a newly captured city to free up offensive units.
A good example is in a war. You want to capture 6 cities, but they're on the other side of the map, you have 30 tanks, you take over the first 3 cities, you're down to 20 tanks, you need at least 6 units to garrison in each city to prevent flip.
Don't garrison the tanks,
instead, rebase 6 TOWs in each city by loading them into helicopters and rebasing them on that turn. Now you have 3 well defended cities with 6 TOWs each that won't flip AND 20 tanks to take over the next 3 cities or more.
The only reason to use helicopters is to rebase units into captured cities that are so far away you can't get to in one turn. It also saves transport space, instead of taking one transport with 6 mechs and two transports with 12 moderns, just take three transports with 18 moderns and helicopter TOWs in after you take over the cities, which effectively gives you more offensive units because you'll never have to garrison tanks.
