Just for lawls...?

I tried twice. Both as France. In the first game I was in a tiny map with two other civs on Settler. I was able to get every wonder up until the point when one oof the civs got the Great Library before me. In the second game I was in a duel map with Gorgo to see if I could eliminate her and still play so I could build every wonder. That didn't work either and I got surrounded by troops from a city-state whose suzerain was Gorgo.

Has anyone attempted this?

I expect the optimal way to do this is a duel map (or larger maps with fewer civs) and pillage your opponent regularly so they cannot build those wonders. There is no time limit to building wonders and if you have sent a delegation to that civ it should tell you whenever they start a new wonder.

it can't be done the early wonders once you start to build one the ai will most definitely have one of the others built before you. even if you cut down every forest/rain surrounding the city still can't be done.

Yes, and it is do-able.

A lot depends on the difficulty.

It should be possible on easier levels in theory, but you may have to turn off the Cultural and maybe Religious Victory conditions, so that you don't accidentally win early. If you pillage and cripple your opponent, they have low cultural production so if you build lots of wonders, your tourism will overwhelm them and you end the game early.

Early game wonders are hardest because you don't have the infrastructure set up yet and you haven't taken the lead yet. Also, your capital may not have the right terrain/features so it will take a long time for you to set up additional cities that meet the wonder requirements.

With your goal, it is definitely easiest with China since you can rush the wonders. It also means that you can quickly build a wonder in a new, 1 population city (with the necessary terrain/feature/resource requirements) by simply sending some builders over.

I did this on Emperor level with China.

I seem to get stone and horses on a lot of my China starts

Just started a new China game, and almost feel like this is a goal worth trying. I rushed to get a second city that had one desert tile to put the pyramids on, and then rushing workers, when that finished, nobody had built Stonehenge, so I put that down and 1.5 workers and 7 turns later, Stonehenge is complete. Shocked, since that was something like turn 50 already, so obviously nobody else started near Stone (small map, so 6 players, immortal difficulty, so the AI usually finished it around turn 25). And now with 5 charge builders, it just makes all the other wonders seem so cheap to try to build...

But isn't that the wonder rush is only for ancient and classical wonders? I I picked France because I figured I might have an advantage mid game

While probably almost impossible in a standard game, taking the duel map scenario you could easily just DoW the other civ straight away and then on top of the already mentioned pillaging of all their tiles you could take any cities building wonders which can be seen under construction and then to keep the AI in the game you could then hand them back in peace deals before DoWing them again to keep the AI in the game

Could be even further annoying to play as Poland, put cities all around their one remaining city once you've beat them down, and then steal all their lands so that they have no available tiles to use. Then it would be literally impossible for them to build any wonders.
