I've noticed a lot of people don't like the direction SimCity Societies took. And now that Will Wright is leaving Maxis, I don't know where things can go but downhill. :( I'd say SimCity 4 was the greatest (or most complex at the least) we'll ever get. I might be wrong though.

So discuss -- has EA ruined SimCity?

EA ruins everything.

Societies wasn't a continuation of the SimCity series, it was a spin-off Sims/SimCity hybrid. I'll also say it's a fun game. It's not a fun game if you thought you'd be playing SimCity, but people are dumb like that and don't research their purchases.

Do you even have to ask?

I miss Maxis before it joined EA :(. Just hope Valve does not follow Maxis footsteps.

Nope!

It should also be pointed out that Will Wright didn't design SimCity 4.

Leave it to aimee to start pointless threads.

Yes everything is EA's fault, cancer, world hunger, a single bad game in a series, swine flu, ect.

EA...

nuff said really.

I still mourn for Westwood!!!!

I'd heard that patches/updates to Societies made the game good. They added some actual strategy gameplay. Maybe too little too late, but has anyone played the patched game?

Didn't we already have a thread discussion on this a couple of months ago?

If there was, I must have missed it. I did make a poll on what was your favourite SimCity, if that's what you mean.

There's no SimCity 5 on the horizon, sadly. That new CitiesXL or whatever is pretty much all we've got as far as decent city simulators go.

All seemed right with the world as long as I had a new SimCity and Civ game to look forward to :p

I'm considering signing up for beta testing as it looks interesting. Has anybody else done that?

Edit: Registered. it says a chance to win the test -- so I probably won't get it.

Nope!
