I posted this in the download change log thread but I want to be made sure I am heard.

Haunted lands graphic REALLY bugs me. There are a couple problems with it. One, it creates trees out of no where. Two, not only that but it does not turn tiles that are already trees into haunted lands unless you cast the spell on the tree several times. And 3, it looks TERRIBLE when you expand your base with it. (See screenshot)

So I propose that haunted lands should when cast on trees be the tree graphic it is now, but plus a fog. On the Scions forum someone suggested that they use the city sickness aura (the green cloud) and tweak it a little+recolor it to be foglike. Now I think if you make haunted lands on a tile without trees it shouldn't have the tree graphic, but rather just be the fog. And as I said above on a tile with trees it will be the current design but also with fog.

And to make it absolutly clear, haunted lands should affect tree tiles the first time.

Please also make a different tile for jungles. If you just make the jungle grey and give it the fog that would be perfect, maybe make it a little more scarce.

So basically to sum it up. 1.) Make haunted lands affect tree tiles ALWAYS.
2.) Tree tiles should have the current haunted lands graphic plus the fog someone suggested (as I said above.)
3.) Plain/grassland/desert/ice/tundra tiles should only get the fog affect, no spawning trees from no where.
4.) Jungles when haunted should be more scarce, grey, and have the fog effect.

Thank you for reading!

Heres a picture of how disgusting it looks.

I've gotta agree with this... It's such a major improvement that you just about have to spread it all across your empire, but it unfortunately turns your empire into a nondescript gray blob.... Art should be the finishing touches on a mod, and now that the Scions are a part of FF, fixing the haunted lands graphic should be the cherry on the cake. :)

Redactor Caestates will drop by and adjust your aesthetics. He says you won't speak of any pain afterward, which sorta sounds good.

I'll take another stab at supplying something better. A *really good* treatment might have to wait for xienwolf's "aspects" system, but I should be able to improve on the current graphic.

OK that would be great. Someone suggested in the download/changelog forum to tint the terrain blue and throw fog on it. THAT, would be awesome. Maybe that could be for later but for now, a blue or grey fog would be welcomed as opposed to trees EVERYWHERE!

I've got a version of the Fallout graphic that I've removed part of and hue'd to blue - might work as a stand-in until something more impressive comes along.

I've just uploaded a new version to try out. It keeps the trees but they're not nearly as obtrusive.

What I'd like to happen in the future is that an Aspect adds a fog/radiation type graphic, and causes forests to spread faster/more. A Creeper, and maybe Ghostwalker, would always give a Haunted Land forest, a Redactor never.

Much prettier than my attempt :D

Good! Making it may have taken too long to *not* use it. :)

I was on the right track before, it turns out, and this time I got a better feel for what was going on with the software. Adjusting this shouldn't be difficult. (I like the "ghost trees" for example, but I bet the color could be improved.)

AWESOME!!!!! One thing though, could you make the ghost trees appear in forrest tiles only, its kind of odd for them to pop out of nowhere. But if you like it I guess its fine. Anyways its perfect!

Finally, a real improvement on the bleached lands graphics. And yes having trees only appear where forests used to be would be more logical, but still an infinitely better improvement. Now if only I could actually play..... .

nicely done.
