Having a problem with a unique unit

I think I have done everything right to create a venicefootman for my mod. When I load the mod it gets stuck and says civ 4 has to quit. I am using a knight unit that I found in a venice unit pack in the medieval units downloads. The error message says the app is version 3.13. I run bts 3.17 always. This has only ocurred when I run the mod with the footman unit. Is it possible that the unit I downloaded is just for patch 3.13 it sounds logical and it would aggravate me because I thought I was putting the unique unit in wrong. Thanks and I appreciate any help. I hope this is the right post for questions if it is not I am sorry.

P.S. Are there any good knight units off the horse for patch 3.17?
 
Units are not affected by the patches or even different versions (ie Warlords or BTS), at all. They are just graphics, and you must put in the XML correctly for the new units to work. So try posting your code up here and I'm sure someone will find your error. :)

Did you ever download version 2.03(might have been a different #), i think that was the number? Not sure, but if you did, and then went to 3.13 then to 3.17, more than likely you'd have to RE-install Civ4 all over again, cause 3.02 really messed things up, mine did the same thing, i put in patch 3.13 but it always came up error message then 3.17 and still error message, it was because of that 3.02 stuff. If you never messed with 3.02, then just check in your options and it tells you there which version your using.:crazyeye:
 
Art is just art, it can be used with any patch of any version of civ4 (and possibly any game that uses the GameBryo engine, but not too sure on that).

No I started right from patch 3.17 because I did not have a computer for a bit and had not played in a while.

I wil post my codes for everything to do with venice footman

It is really weird my friend I added 4 other units to the mod and they run fine. Its strange
 
The question about versions is not so misplaced as you might think.
Art is just art, that's fine, but animation did change between expansions, just think about galleys - several cool ships needed to be corrected because of this as they would not animate with new kfms.
