HDTV as monitor

I've just bought an HDTV and plan to make it as my secondary monitor. Just curious, will there be any problem to my laptop (Dell XPS 1330) or my TV (Samsung LCD)?

I use HDMI port so I can get 1080p on my TV.

As for HDMI port, I heard, I should get sound from it when using DVD/ Blu-ray player. I'm not sure about laptop/ PC. However, my TV don't produce any sound when connected to my laptop. Any idea how to fix this? Currently, I'm using external speaker as replacement.

Should work great together.

Sound over HDMI can be tricky to get working with laptops/PCs. Try swapping the playback (output) device in the Vista sound settings interface.

I'd just use it as a primary monitor, and use the smaller laptop screen for things like music players and antivirus.
