ok, I got [civ3], [ptw], and [c3c] in a 3-cd pack out of a catalog somewhere.
From the start, I had errors. When I tried to install PTW, it wouldn't run. It said that itneeded the cd when it was already in there. I installed conquests and it ran fine (is mine unique in the fact that I don't need the cd to run [c3c] ?) I downloaded 1.22 update and it came up with the cd error like ptw did. I uninstalled and reinstalled conquests and everthing ran fine until I tried downloading mods. I kept getting errors like "cannot find file: art\units\some unit\..\swordsman\swordfortify.wav" I know the files are there, I even tried moving them into the mod folder, but I still get the errors. I know howtoopen the INI file and delete the entry for that sound, ut I think it really takes away from the unit. :(

did you try to add units? if so make sure the folder name, the configuration name, and the units name in the scenario are exactlly the same.
and you wasted your money, conquest comes with all of the elements of ptw

no, It wasn't civ3 complete. it was somewhere in a catalog. It had all three cds for like $10.00 in their jewel cases.
the problem happens when i download mods and the units are looking for sounds of the vanilla civ3 units, but it only happens with certain sound files like the swordsman and archer
