I'm new to Civilization as a whole, but I've got a pretty good grasp on how it works. However, there is one thing that's really bugging me - how do I add new civs, leaders, and units. I've read one tutorial, but that didn't really help. What I really want is to have a civ, leader, or unit that is ingrated into my basic game, ie I can use it whenever I want and I don't have to load a mod. Anyone who can help me I would be grateful to! Members are... GO! :goodjob:

I'd highly suggest making any modification that you make into a mod. Messing with the core files should be avoided. Loading a basic mod like that will take less than a minute so you won't even notice it. All you need to do is copy and alter the files necessary to make your changes and put that into your mod. Everything doesn't need to be copied so its fairly painless.

Well, if you do download a mod, you can go into the civilizationIV.ini file and change the zero in this line
Code:
; Specify a Mod folder (Mods\Mesopotamia), '0' for none
Mod = 0
to the name of the mod you want to load
this will allow you to load the mod on first startup

If you just want your own choice of units, you are going learn a bit of xml (very easy) to get them in.

OK, I see what you're saying. However, I have another two questions from that (oh, joy). One, would I have to load this mod every single time I wanted to play as a certain Civ, and two, can I load multiple mods at a time? For instance, I downloaded Sevomod (which works fine) and the 'Israel' Civ (which doesn't). So, would I be able to use both simultaneously. OR, (yet another question) would I be able to add the 'Israel' civilization to Sevomod, so it is comtained within it? Thanks again for helping me!

If you have a specific unit, leader or civ in mind I suggest asking the maker(s); they should know. (You can send a PM; Creation and Customization is basically just that, so question threads are against Forum Rules.)

Also, what you're asking basically is a mod. So, alternatively, you might want to check out the Modding tutorials.
