Help! I can't install my game!

I installed the game (version 1.61) then downloaded a patch (1.74.000), but it didn't work with the patch, so I tried to delete the files and start from scratch, but I must have did something wrong.

I can't install the game (1.61) anymore, because it says i have a better version (1.74) install, and to delete previous files and try again.

However, when I go to Control Panel/Add-Remove programs, there is a file 'Sid Meiers Civilization 4' which is 69.14MB and it won't let me delete this file, I get an error message that tells me to complete the previous setup before removing the file.

So, now I'm stuck. Anyone know what I should do? Thanks in advance.

HI,
I think I am in the same boat as BONOWAXX. Civ 4 ran great for me for a year. Went to install BTS. Error I got said neede newer update ...and it proceeded to install new update then bombed...HELP!!!!!
Now I can't play reg Civ4 let alone my new BTS HELP PLEASE !!!!!
Frustrated here.

I am not sure, but does the game's installation program have a repair feature on it. I had no problem installing the game so that is all I could think of to try.

Problem solved here. You have to remove the registration information as well.

How to manually uninstall Civ4 and expansion packs

Step 1
Delete Civ4 files from the hard drive. Go to C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games and delete the folder Sid Meier's Civilization 4

Step 2
Delete Civ4 registry entries

First you need to access the registry
- click Start on the taskbar
- select Run...
- type regedit and click OK

Now delete Civ4 software keys
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 - Warlords (Warlords expansion pack)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 - Beyond the Sword (Beyond the Sword expansion pack)

Finally delete Civ4 uninstall keys
