help loading mod?

I'm trying to use the USSR mod. I downloaded it to mydocuments/civilization4/MODS as a zip file. I can see it in the folder, but then I run civ4, go to advanced, and its not there. What do I do!

You need to extract it into that location using WinRAR or Winzip. Right now it's just a bunch of compressed data.

So you mean I have to extract each individual part of it?

The mod should be a zip or rar extension. When you download it you'll need to extract the file into your FiraxisGames/Sid....Civ4/Mods folder. Don't put it into MyDocuments.

You don't need to extract each part, the program will do that for you and you'll get the appropriate folders in the appropriate spots. Or you should at least.

Ugh! It still didn't work! I put it under programfiles/civ4/mods/, then made a folder under mods called "soviet union" that I put it under. I ran civ4, went to advaced, load a mod and "soviet union" is there as a mod. When I run it though... I STILL CAN'T CHOOSE TO BE THE SOVIET FREAKIN' UNION!
Its a soviet union mod with no soviet union in it! What am I doing wrong???

You don't need to make a folder called "Soviet Union". The civ mod should do that already. In your Mods folder you'll have the Tutorial and the ones that Firaxis sent with the game, plus this one you downloaded.
