So I played pretty much with all Civs already. Only ones left are Spain, Celts and America.

I want to go for a Science Victory on King difficulty. All those 3 Civs are not designed for that though, so it will be hard ;). My settings are:

Random map type
Random environment
Random map size
All other settings are default except the Random Seeds (which is on).
All Victory conditions are ON so the AI can win through any means. I will try my best to stick with the Science Victory.

Which one of the 3 Civs should be the best in this scenario? Please vote. Thanks:goodjob:

I was originally going to say choose Spain and hope you find the barrier reef or Krakatoa early. However I'd actually vote for the Celts, try to set up the religion to help your science: Interfaith dialogue, Jesuit Education (I think that's what its called, the belief that allows you to buy science buildings with faith). Add in any beliefs that make missionaries cheaper and/or boost faith output to fund the costs of the buildings and missionaries spreading to gain science

Go with Spain. Money support anything, and that includes Science buildings.

If you find Krakatoa (in a spot that's reachable), Old Faithful, or the Great Barrier Reef, you'll get double the bonus from those tiles. That should make the Science Victory a little easier.

Celts and America would be my choices. Try to go wide and be aggressive. America is good for expansion and Celts can become religious leader what means a lot of happiness and culture and in late game, a pack of scientists to bulb.

For Spain and America: scout the map really early to use the UA to your full advantage (seriously, get 2 or 3 scouts to start). If you're America you probably will want to do a bit more warmongering, while Spain can be awesome or mediocre depending on whether a natural wonder is nearby. Spain is probably the most map dependent strategy in the game, and what you want to do with them depends on what natural wonders you find. If you do find a natural wonder or two early, going for a religion and getting the one with nature pantheon can be quite powerful for Spain.

For the Celts, you can get an early pantheon easily, but I think they require a bit more skill/strategy to play effectively. I at least couldn't figure them out. The additional pantheons post patch might help them a little bit, but I overall found them to be boring.

Poland America Aztec

Take Mongolia.

Be a warmongering menace to the world in all possible ways. If you think you can take on someone, just declare a war. Prove to the world what your beard is worth! When you have Keshiks available, just declare war to everyone on your continent, rush Universities into Astronomy, and then get your Keshik + Horseman/Knight/Pikeman (something to take cities) through the ocean and declare war on the guys from other continents. Because WAR is where manliness is at, my friend.

Or take Venice and... also be a warmongering menace. Declare war. Don't be a pansy. Grow your cities, grow your beard, destroy the enemy.

Guys please pay attention to the post. I need to play with all civs and only 3 are left: America, Spain or the Celts. You have to pick one of the 3 and the victory condition is Science.

Take Mongolia still. It's fun-

Oh fiiine, I'll play by your rules. Spain. It's most fun, and with some luck it'll give you badass conditions. Best if you get that +2 food +6 faith wonder, gives guaranteed religion. 'Murica is for pansies. Celts are half manly only, they're a danger for your beard. Take Spain.

Or Mongolia/Venice.

Yeah, Spain is either either instant win or mediocre... but what people seem to forget is that Spain is a warmongering civ in it's heart. :D If someone has that NW, go get it by conquest.:king: Both Tercio and Conquistadors are easy to spam.

I agree about Celts, it's 100% you'll get pantheon, pick something to boost culture so you can quickly roll through Piety, pick JE and it's quick science. :goodjob:

America is among the most boring civs, even their UA is now "meh", since Shoshone have a real land-grab. :crazyeye:

I like playing as Spain and settling wherever the wonders are, even if they're on the other side of the map in the middle of enemy territory, you may even be able to win on King using such a suboptimal playstyle.

If "winning" is the priority, I'd go with America. Their UU's come online at a good time should you need to go on the offensive in the mid/late game.

I'll vote the Celts - as others have said already, their ability to quickly get a religion up and running allows you the flexibility to pick beliefs that boost your Science (and productivity). And yes - aim for the Piety finisher as early as possible so that you can get the Jesuit Education reformation belief.

I'd go with the Celts in this case too. The religious choices give you a lot of interesting options for scientific progress as well.

Doesn't matter. It's King difficulty. :D

But seriously now, Spain is probably best if you get good start. Almost any Natural Wonder you can get your hands on will help: if it's food, that's great for science, if it's production then you can focus more food tiles or build science buildings faster, if it's gold you'll be able to buy useful things and focus on science. :) If you don't want to reload the map, then it's too much luck based.

In that case, go with Celts. Religion is fun, especially on lower difficulties where you can actually compete with others. Take beliefs for food, faith, growth or science and it will sinergize well. :goodjob:
